Both Gladiator and Trickster are getting new nodes, which are unique to them...

Seems a lot of people in this thread never actually played a high block Lacerate gladiator.

First GGG nerfed the bleed craft (60% chance for 100% more bleed damage).

Now they're nerfing two more integral parts of the build. Block Glads got hit not only with the nerf to Versatile Combatant, but ALSO to the NEW 25% mana reservation on Tempest Shield.

For high block Lacerate builds, Glad already had 85% mana reserved with Pride (50%), Herald of Purity (25%), and Blood and Sand (10%). Tempest Shield was needed for the added block percentage, but it didn't reserve any mana.

Now, EVEN IF Blood and Sand is dropped...high block gladiators will be at 100% mana reserved with Pride (50), Herald of Purity (25%) and Tempest Shield (25%).

Combined with the nerf to bleed damage previously, this build is dead...and the sad part is that IT WAS NEVER a high DPS build. It was just fun and tanky.

Exactly. And Gladiator builds were always more of a min-max, and pretty much never a budget build. You need to really invest heavy, and need a very decent and pricey weapons to be viable.

And on top of that One hand + Shield has always struggle and was always inferior to DUal Wield, which was pretty much the same in terms of tankiness, but Dual Wield manage to do so so much more Damage, it wasn't even close to begin with it.
And let's be real the game is all about DAMAGE, and kill before you get killed, and will always be like that.
Melee was always, and i ***** mean always was big time inferior compare to ranged/casters. And melee has always require way more investment.

Yeah we get a high block/spell block chances, but do people and GGG realize that you pretty much have 6 Mandatory Ascendancy to get to a high block/spell chance ???
And all of this Ascendancy add minimum to zero Damage in returns.
The 6 Mandatory Ascendancy - Violent REetaliation, Painforged and Versatile Combatant, gives me exactly 34k DPS. And this is with 550 PDPS sword on Physical Double Strike Build.

For a pure example with One hand and Shield, which is absolutely not optimal for Slayer, if i get 6 Ascendancy i get 500k+ PDPS ....

And then GGG tells us for little investment, are you ***** kidding me, you call that little investment ??? I'm losing more than 500k. DPS for just to get the Block Spell Chance to 79%(with quite investment in the tree as well)....

And just like i said, you also have to invest in the tree quite a lot to get to a 75+ block chance, and your damage suffer big time, as well as your HP.
With an Expensive top gear, your going to be in the range of 5,5-6,5k Life.
And damage will be 50000x less than Ranged/Caster or Slayer or Champion builds for example.

Cry me a riva , panicking young boy xD
Clearly we need to know more about how easily available spell block is. If they implement the block is lucky thing, getting max attack block for gladiator will require less investment for close to the same attack block. You can get a lot of that with just a nice shield.

That 1/3 less investment into attack block might be able to be put toward spell block instead. We also need to know what is replaced in the gladiator ascendancy.

They will need to provide more max black to gladiator to get back to the 82/83% max block equivalent using the lucky mechanic since it appears you need to get to 65% max block to get the equivalent with lucky rolls.

Thanks for all the fish!
3.16 gonna be a 0 build league even worse than 3.15 u need to spend half ur passive points on defence so u gonna deal 0 dmg

Funny thing: I'd be totally fine with that as long as defense is actually worth picking up now. Even as SC pleb dying sucks. And then we would have longer fights, which they are actually working towards. Not that they said that all along. Guess they DO know ehat they are doing...
Hope they know what they're doing, Glad/Block was never OP in terms of DPS, and their defense was only good with a huge investment.

It's an unpopular opinion, but I hate HH, this item is an aberration, it goes against GGG's own philosophy that there can't be broken items in the game...Glad/Block was one of the few builds able to handle the difficult content of game without this idiot belt.

"We who are about to die salute you!"

I finally got my max block glad to 1.6 million dps in Standard and I love playing him. Oh well I guess I'll have to rebuild him. :(

Without the context of the rest of the game, these numbers seem silly. Imagine what someone that doesn't play PoE would think about "max block" and still "1.6 MILLION" dps.

The scaling in this game is absurd. People have just gotten used to it I guess. PoE is the YuGiOh of aRPGs. Pointless extra zeroes in the HP and Damage just to make people feel more powerful.

watchu mean son, everyone and their grandma league started gladiators, most of the ssf hc competitions were block glad festivals, glad was getting away with a lot more than anyone slightly to the left or right in the passive tree, or even the other ascendancies for the same class
