Disappointment with 3.14 "Balance" & The Gaslighting of Anyone who Doesn't Agree with all Changes

everyone, staff
Nice to meet you
Personal Computer Gaming I am a 35 year player from Japan.
I'm excited every day to get to know everyone through this game.
I will do my best every day to collect knowledge of English and wiki.
I will just say, this was my first league, and it will unfortunately be my last. I enjoyed a lot of things about the game, but I did not appreciate or enjoy the stealth nerfs (harvest t4 mature and recently nemesis sextants). And I also think it's ridiculous to nerf content where poors are farming for pennies on the dollar when crafters are making mirrors daily. Farmers should have the ability to have OP stuff offered to them. The 'balancing/fairness' bullshit reminds me of WoW- which is absolutely disgusting to say it lightly. I wonder if they did actually hire devs from WoW lol. Anyway, I respected what they did with this game up to this release. It's unfortunate I was so late to the game. I would come back if they got rid of the WoW-like behavior, but I don't believe it will ever happen. Once you go down this road, it's a slippery slope, usually a sign of problems at the top of the chain, and it ends poorly always. Good luck to the players, and if the devs see this, I hope you find some balls to voice these problems to the higher ups. Or else you'll end up with a really boring playerbase and your job will be sad. Cheers.

Its never coming back, buddy. 3.13 was the best league ever and they nerfed it to hell. It is sad that you never had a chance to play it. It was great. Even the poorest of the poor made shit load of currency or greatest items that they never had a chance to touch before.

Unfortunately, 3.14 marks the downfall of the poe and it is all downhill from now on.
Trust your mind and strengthen your abilities!

Sadly this is more accurate than a lot of people here would acknowledge. That nerf-festo killed the game.

I don't know if I would jump to this conclusion just yet. If the data tells them that the game is "killed" due to the nerfs and not other generic factors like the league mechanic itself, they can certainly change and maybe even reverse course. The thing about Harvest is that there are so many options and solutions that you can easily bring it back if they have a shift in their philosophy which right now is that virtually everything should be tradeable. Despite how people feel about trade, GGG feels it's paramount to their game. Their manifesto on the "health of the game" - I feel - has more to do with their philosophy around trade and a lot less to do with the power of items.

If you take Diablo 4's future system which is having your ancients as tradeable but your primal ancients (or whatever they end up calling them in D4) account-bound, that's a solution that still involves trade while at the same enforcing the most powerful gear can't be transferred to anyone else. Your t4 seeds (or whatever GGG designates as too OP) can effectively conform to a similar system. Craft as you will with whatever you have from the bench of from the crops, but as soon as you slam your item with some OP craft, it's account bound and that's it. You can still encourage trade by getting items to a certain degree that allows players to have someone else finish an item or intentionally avoiding those OP crafts that would lock the item to your account.

The solutions are there. Split tag now exists. Deterministic crafting can co-exist alongside trade with some of the aforementioned hooks in place. Split, Mirrored, and perhaps in the future: Locked.

Edit: can even pave the way for an Unlocking Orb!… Unlock an item, removing one or more modifiers that lock the item.

I can’t buy any more big supporter packs because the forum only supports showing 7 legacy tags.

Yes, it's not dead in it's track. It's just dead in the water. It can still be turned around. At least in theory, [Removed by Support]

It is just so frustrating. I love the game so much, and there really is no alternative on this level. To see it slip down a slope, and nothing you do or say seem to have any affect, is a terrible feeling that consumes positivity and hope.

Massive buffs and QoL improvements in next league = everything is solved. To my horror Reddit is demanding everything be nerfed further so it's not looking good.
I don't think i've ever seen reddit calling for nerfs, its basically a ballpen for toddlers to play in.

They absolutely could make 3.15 a great league though it all depends on the notes and direction same as always
Their biggest hurdle is going to be changing the Atlas Endgame so it isnt terrible. Im one league in after coming back 4 years and im already tired of it. The way it functions and the convolutedness is just unnecessary to say the least. The "grind" isnt intuitive and neither is the way sustaining maps works, even then ive found myself completely unable to sustain T13+ maps. Ive been able to sustain T11-12 however.

Atlas consumes too much time and is way too imperative to all other "side content" in the game. You cant heist without it because you need Rogue Markers, Contracts and Blueprints. You cant do Temples without it because you need to do Jun Missions. You cant delve without it because you need Sulfite.

Theres actually quite a few things i didnt get around to doing, like, at all, the entire league. That being Delve and Einhar Beastcrafting or even messing around with what Einhar has to offer at all. Theres objectively too much to do in order to "get going". I mean just look at the way they changed recipes, its just as, if not more tedious than old Master reputation farming. A lot of those recipes meant to help with leveling and progressing, you dont have access to until maps and shit, at that point, why even have it ? LOL. The most important recipes objectively for getting your gear setup are far past the leveling stage and some of the most important ones you want are strictly only found by delving.

It took like a Month or soo into the league to feel like "alright i can start moving and progressing.

Skills, builds and items need adjusting but the way endgame functions and feels in addition to how side content interacts vs the way it should be interacted with is gonna be very important for 3.15.

Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Labyrinth salt farm miner.

"But my build diversity" , "Game is too hard!" - Meta drone playing the same 1-3 builds for years.

Bloatware. They can easily make the game fun by reducing the grind at all levels, but that comes at the price of game longevity. Unfortunately for us the current iteration of longevity takes advantage of players comparatively new to the genre - people who have yet to become tired of the core arpg gameplay.

For those olduns, that have been grinding in the arpg genre since before diablo 1, to be entertained continuously, a constant stream of actually fresh material is needed. Developing new things comes at a cost both in money and in risk. Since new ideas are untested, they may crash hard and bury many resources with them. Honestly, GGG ARE trying - blight with tower defense, synthesis with memories, harvest with farm, heist when mobs raised alert - those were ideas relatively new to the "go kill monsters and loot corpses" traditional genre gameplay. And all of them have quite a few detractors.

In summary, veterans are bored with the old, yet wary of the new. We don't want to eat grandma's soup anymore, are anxious that the new dish would taste worse and, often, even if it objectively doesn't, we are still disdaining it for not being "true" to grandma's recipe enough.
