People keep coming back to get more powerful. That's always been the case.

According to PoE stats - they don't. If you let ppl progress faster - they leave the game earlier and GGG loses their money.

Playing longer doesn't = money though, It might if they are having a blast but they've always said they make a vast majority of their sales in the first 2 weeks of a league.

I've always believed satisfied players are more likely to buy MTX than dissatisfied ones regardless of their actual playtime, this might be a naive view I wouldn't be that surprised of a sales specialist told me actually there is no correlation.

You're the one that brought up wow.

People reclear kara in TBC because theres over a half dozen harder raids. It's not remotely close to the content release pattern in the past decade. Retail wow has 1 raid. You clear mythic and that's literally it. There's nothing harder to do and therefore the point and motivation of reclearing no longer exists.

I brought up wow because I've played it and it is(was) a perfect example of why people play RPG games. Majority of people in retail won't ever touch mythic but will keep reclearing HC raids over and over week after week. Maybe not so much today because Wow is dying but that's irrelevant.

So you mean that people are reclearing the first tier of raids in TBC right now so they can gear up for SSC and TK in 6 months?
Majority of people will have quit TBC by the time those instances release.
And with that said, those instances can be beat with HC gear from dungeons. You don't need minmax BiS gear from Karazhan/Gruul/ML to beat SSC/TK. It will only make it easier. Just like you don't need perfect harvest gear to beat the feared.
But guess what, people will still try to get BiS gear because to many, that's one of the primary driving points behind why they play the game.

I don't understand why you're so opposed to the idea that RPG players like playing these type of games because we like gear progression and character development. We keep playing the game so we get stronger which allows us to do it all again but easier. That's the gameplay loop in these type of games.

Online RPG games, to most people, aren't played like traditional games where you beat the final boss, watch the endgame credits and shelve the game.
You keep coming back, making your character more powerful so you can beat everything faster until the day you get bored and quit.

I don't know where you got that most guilds don't try mythic raiding but there's over 13000 guilds progressing into mythic raids. And as far as the server I play on, Illidan-US is essentially a mythic only server. Reclearing heroic is a waste of time unless it's super early in the tier and you need the gear to progress into mythic.

If TBC raids were really that easy then there would've been more guilds clearing the raids. But the fact of the matter is by the end of the expansion there were barely any guilds at all that cleared up to SWP. The actual stats speaks for themselves.

And your right FYI, you don't need harvest crafted gear to beat the feared, hence why it was even on the table of discussion of gutting it.

I can't understand how any of you can alc and go an entire league and call that fun.

I'm not even alcing maps, white or magics are good enough, my only goal currently is to beat trialmaster rng. Back in the days it was thousands of dried lake runs. Not every farming strategy needs to be maxed out.
This is by far the biggest disappointment from one league to the next. GGG dropped the ball massively coming off an amazing 3.13. Hell, even standard was poppin off last league...

GGG surely had me scratching my head, not sure what they are tryin to accomplish.

`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL

Imho they went in a place where players were getting confortable at the game, most of the long term retention is players trying to be better at the game, "properly beat it". And in 3.13 players were able to, so for game longevity sake they decided to crush everything they could to oblivion for PoE to last longer. It was a calculated choice, it was shortsighted and not particulary fair/honest but it's how they do things. There was to many nerfs, and honestly some justifications got even memed by content creators that want the game to work in order to pay their rent. Keep in mind there is PoE2 around the corner, wich is huge for them.

it seems like 1 extra month doesn't help, in fact, it's even worse than 3 months league, what are they going to blame now?

not themselves, obviously.
If only the performance update was a catch-all for all devices that ran Path of Exile. Everyone would be praising this update just for that I think.

I find it so ridiculous people here actually defend this league "It was fun" when it is so evident it's a lot more disliked than many of its predecessors.

Then again, I just click on character tab then things become clear.
