This game is an abusive P2W slot machine feeding off of peoples' addictions.

So let me get this straight: according to you a game is P2W ONLY when by paying you alter your own character? Ok then, suppose PoE had no stash whatsoever and you have to pay to get stash tabs, any stash tabs at all. This, by your definition, won't make PoE a P2W game, right?

clearly there is a sliding scale of real money 'advantages', and the exact line of PTW is fuzzy, but this example is pay-to-win, likewise if stash tabs were a thing you could earn through gameplay, then buying them would be pay-to-win. also purchasing MTX would be pay to win if those were things that could be achieved in the game

Context is important. If your objective in the game is to collect as much stuff as possible or to set up a full time trading simulator, then stash tabs would be pay to win. If you are playing SF and you don't hoard gear, then the stash tabs are a convenience, a quality-of-life improvement, which is NOT pay to win any more than buying a more comfortable chair is pay-to-win.

No-one is claiming that pay-to-win is only when you can buy everything in the game, and by your own supplied definition (which itself is a simplified view of the issue) stash tabs are not pay to win.

So if you buy something but don't win more with it, like the example of increased health, then this is not P2W?

Okay, one more time, hehe. Pay-to-win is altering your win condition in some way, if there's any, be it via character stats, loot boxes, paid exclusive items or whatever else. Point me then, where's that mysterious win condition of mine in solo self-found BDSM mode, mmkay.

Just answer the question: if PoE had no stashes and we had to pay for them would the game be P2W or not?

And no, P2W is not a feeling like whether this girl is hot or not, its a gaming term with an established definition.

Mmkay, with the amount of crap that drops, it would be pay to play (it basically already is, for any remotely sane person, as 4 tabs is close to no tabs at that point, lol). Pay to win tho? No.

Huh? Didn't realize there is a difference.

So,
It is P2W when you are altering your character.
It is pay for convenience when you don't.
It is pay to play when your character doesn't get an advantage but at the same time you can't play properly without paying.

Did I get this right? Is there another "pay to" definition you'd like to share?
Okay, consider it basic cost of the game, like ya know, when you are buying it in a store, mmkay. And the default 4 tab setup is basically a demo version with no content limitations.

Pay 2 play refers to games you can only play if you purchase them (excluding things like going to your friend's place to play, pirating, etc.). Obviously if PoE was free to play with paid stashes it'd be in a different category because you'd still be able to play without paying.
Well, whatever, let it be p2w if it makes you comfortable.
I still fail to see the mention of exact "win" which stash tabs help to achieve, but have it your way, mmkay.

I agree it is a bad term. It should have been "pay for an advantage". I don't care much though. I accept that PoE is P2W (although not as bad as some other games) but still enjoy it, recommend it and will drop money in it.
