the negative aspects overweight in the end i left this league midseason the death penalty is no fun for me why even give me an option in "softcore" to reach lvl 100 if i get punished twice for dying? all this whiteknight and elitist bullsh*ttery doesnt make it any different that mechanic "is bad" you guys dont like people having a different opinion? its a "you" problem people criticize it for good i'll leave that crap community for good and no matter how many leave also there will be people who will complain about this mechanic good luck fighting whiteknights to the people who criticize it if you really dont want to play something else just dont insult them they'll eventually run out of arguments and disappear on its own "There are Penalties in the Game, no one's complaining about them"

I think the point some of the "white knights" are trying to make is that level 100 is a completely optional, unnecessary goal with no impact on gameplay/power level whatsoever.
And the whole philosophy of this game is to have those ultra-endgame, super optional, difficult to achieve chase objectives for those who still want to pursue them. So won't you consider that making that achievable for everyone is a bit counter-productive to their vision? |

Can we at least pretend to be adults, and discuss things with people who disagree with us WITHOUT committing a series of logical fallacies so egregious that they'd get the poster thrown out of a freshman-level debate course? Because Wlad's last post is just pathetic: we've got a near-textbook Straw Man, a circular argument, a false binary, a fallacious appeal to emotion, whataboutism, and even a bandwagon argument thrown in for good measure, expressed as a nigh-incomprehensible set of disjointed run-on sentences without punctuation. The subreddit is already an open sewer, do we really want or need more of that here? |

Current state of xp penalty just feels bad, especially in high 90's. You should be able to recover at least part of the xp if you're not dying frequently. Let's say double xp till you recover what you lost on your last death.
But to not make it too easy you should be able to lose xp below 0% so deaths aren't meaningless right after a level up like they're now. |

That's true. But I would like to see GGG move the balance around a bit to see if they can't find something that feels better for players, while keeping the lvl 100 a challenging goal.

I'm not saying you need to like the death penalty. I don't like it myself. I think that the game would be better without it. I know 3 people that stopped playing PoE because of it. So I think it hurts retention.
All I'm saying is that GGG is in love with the level 100 chase goal the way that it is. I don't think they are going to change it even though I think that they should. Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

What is ignoring is, when ever someone mentiond negative about detah penalty. You have the usual stawsman "So you think you shouldn't be punish for dying?"
Literally no one say that. Every action game out theer has penalty on death, almost none has experience lost! Many of these games are more hardcore & harder than poE. You can disagree with the xp lost on death or not, but stop misrepresent others There is a reason why Gamers hatred losing progress, even worse when that progress can be hours or even days. A penalty need to be 2 things. Making sure gamers what to aviod, so it should hurt. But not to the point of frustration or stress, or disencourging you to do certain contents. §rd but almost as critical, is gamers can learn and become better prepare, but this is something often deprive off. .
