King of Bullshit: 10% death penalty
I love the 10% penalty.
If it wasn't there the game would be a lame children's rollercoaster at a casino and I've already been to circus circus. I have never felt further from what I know and love

" No ranking in game, just rankings outside on some websites, im getting tired of that dependence on third parties to do stuff in that game, sorry but just some pvp that few people play is "competitive" and if sometimes there is a special event with some prize of computer sponsored by a company. I cant really call this game "competitive game", just few people care about be "better" than others or about be of that "1%" taking a look to statistics on an external page and not really rewarded ingame because that. Sorry but calling that "competitive" or saying is a feature designed to make more hard to reach 100% dont take down the fact that thing of punish player that way is soo old and soo hated since D2. ------------- To de point of the thread and saying approx the same I said on other similar topics, im saving money to say "thanks" to GGG the day that they make the good decision of deactivate that punishement maybe trying first on standar, and I 100% agree that punishement is not a carrot in front of you and is more like a knife on your back, it feels more like a relief to achieve a high level and not as a reward, it is quite an unpleasant and stressful feeling, casul player talks :P Full Harvest is besto waifu, give me 3.11 and/or 3.13 and take my money.

" I would like to see that, that would be interesting. " The absence of reward isn't a punishment. " Weird you'd say this when vio has it right, and apparently it's you who are deciding not to 'get' that without friction or exclusivity, there is no psychologically meaningful achievement or trophy. |

" D2 has exp loss but if you manage to get to your corpse with your freshly spawned & naked player character you would get a part of the lost exp back. PoE is in that regard more hardcore. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks |

You are not entitled to level 100. Softcore is already treated as a joke by some people, we don't really need to give players who die 600 times and complain that the game is too easy even more power. Hard content should make you think twice about running it and the game is already doing a pretty poor job at that, putting some speed bumps on the way to level 100 is the bare minimum and barely makes a difference these days. If you're dying so often that you can't make progress this is a you problem.

" I believe that anyone that can make level 95 has the necessary skill to make it to level 100. One just has to have the patience and will to do it. I have neither. You have the skill and the will but apparently just not the patience to keep doing the same thing over and over until you reach 100. GGG is in love with their level 100 chase goal. That is just the way it is. Find other things to have fun doing or bite the bullet and grind out the "boring" last three levels. Personally I would find other things to do but the choice is yours. Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

I don't play videogames to 'work for it' or 'achieve things in my life'. I play them for fun: this is why I detest PoE leveling system so much that I rather play only standard.
Once I've leveled an archtype class to 97, I never look back with it, and I never won't play this pseudo HC to 100 just because some dimwit thought it is a rewarding experience. For a long time I played SSF only simply since trading sucks a**, and the only reason I went into trading was because it was nigh impossible otherwise to reach endgame with certain builds. Everything is about gearing in this game. I have never sold an item in game, that is how much I enjoy these multiplayer features. Well, I don't give two f*cks whether SC is joke to somebody. If you want to be competitive, try tennis. That's an actually competitive game, not a single-player arpg (yes, it's a single-player I kill those monsters alone and they are all AI, don't try to convince me otherwise) where you basically twink your way to victory. Also, majority of deaths in this game are due to lagspikes anyway. Especially in my experience most endgame bosses have this amazing Divine Lag ability which freezes screen for a sec or two, even though I do try to keep my auras up all time. Anyhow, I apologize for touching the holy object of PoE church, I know it is a sacrilege and I shouldn't have. Last edited by vmt80#6169 on Mar 17, 2021, 10:23:37 PM

Always wondered why some people are so insistent on changing some elements, sometimes core elements which the game is built around, just because they don't want to do the required work to achieve an imaginary reward.

I get frustrated sometimes when I loser exp. It's just part of the game though. If a better game in this genre arrives, that doesn't frustrate me as much, then I will play it. Until then.....I like most of this game.

Meh, as the most friendly casual n00b hoarder that only plays Standard I would ask all of you to tone down your expectations.
TencentGGG showed the highest degree of ineptitude persevering in their obsolete stances regarding: "crafting" - which by DEFAULT implies a DETERMINISTIC cause-effect -> result - "trading" - which they envisioned as an "alternative" to LOOTING, yet they are surpassed by the community that actually finds best ways to sidetrack their "envisioned goals" and of course "leveling" - which is plagued by their stance on having level 100 as a "chase goal", yet contrary TO ANY SANE PROPER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT GAME, they rely on an inconsequential "punishment" in the form of 10% death EXP penalty for 95% (yes, you read that right, the 10% death EXP penalty starts to hurt AT LEVEL 95) of leveling experience, which is combined with their asinine additional EXP penalty gains via a severely underleveled content compared with the players character, all in the name of "prolonging" the journey... Sadly, they go about making level 100 a chase goal the "wrong way", by simply not providing proper danger/reward ratios. I don't mind having real difficulty as long as the proper reward via LOOT AND EXP is there, yet TencentGGG are still undecided after a decade since PoE's launch about proper ratios... The moment they started to fast-track "casual" low investment - high reward avenues for EXP gain, like Beachheads, pure breachstones, 5 way legion, Coward's Trial/Poorjoy's runs etc. as the "best & most efficient" ways to level to 100, while also making end game boss encounters PUNISHING AND NOT REWARDING on the EXP side, I never expected them to provide proper content difficulty and reward ratios anymore. But then Delirium happened. And you can still level to 100 in a "timely" manner by running Simulacrum and/or T19 100% delirious maps. The only caveat is you actually need LOTS OF DAMAGE and DEFENSES to manage those DEATHLESS to level to 100... So TencentGGG showed they can actually provide content that has a PROPER DANGER/REWARD ratio for EXP and loot at the same time, but they actively "FORGOT" to make the "proper" adjustments to the "easy" content... There should be better solutions to implement DEATH EXP PENALTY to be noticeable since level 1 (the current encouraging of "zerging" by throwing corpses at a problem to resolve it SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED), and there is NO NEED FOR ADDITIONAL EXP GAIN PENALTY if the game actually implements proper DANGER/REWARD RATIOS, preferably for both LOOT AND EXP... PS: I reached level 100 with my personal build, playing PoE with "UBER HARD MODE ON" by actually challenging my dual wielding RT "real melee" (until they killed Static Strike) versus all the content, and due to technical reasons I mostly conceded that PoE is too difficult for me that way and I fast-tracked with the best possible experience by gaining the last 40% EXP with Beachheads. And I needed to farm the required 99-100 EXP 3 TIMES on that character, because I was having fun, and always tried to get revenge vs my killer... Level 100 is no longer a proper chase goal, it's just a pointless target - heck, it got added as an option on the "challenge" list in 3 months leagues - that simply sidetracks the way you play PoE these days. And that is a shame, as it could and should be SO MUCH MORE... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"... Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... Last edited by sofocle10000#6408 on Mar 19, 2021, 12:07:43 AM
