King of Bullshit: 10% death penalty
" Would be nice if people stopped posting blatant BS like this. Die once a session, and I'm never hitting 98, never mind 100. All the BS deaths from nothing are bad enough, but the worst is how extremely unfair it is due to the massive difference in consequence for at worst marginal mistakes. But who cares, huh? People have been complaining about this for a decade, and GGG simply don't give a tiniest little shit about us. |

Tell you what GGG, I'll be reasonable: you can keep the archaic XP penalty if you put in a lore explanation for it. What is it that we're losing? Who's bringing us back to life and taking away this substance/energy/whatever? What god made this rule that 'ten deaths worth of experience' lets you gain 6% maximum energy shield? Why doesn't Gravicius question the fact that that he's killed the same badly-equipped Shadow three times with well-placed firestorms?

" if BS deaths, GGG seems to be intent on killing the top of the top 1%, which hurts them a little but but hurts the bottom line (weak players) the most. "working as intended" if 10% xp loss, i would argue its a legacy feature. the 10% xp loss makes achieving 100 more meaningful. yes i am aware people are doing 1001 different ways to get to 100 by using 5 ways/breachstones etc. i am an advocate for NOT removing the 10% loss. but i would advocate to remove or reduce the BS deaths. 10% loss is fair if i didnt gtfo of the way or made very poor decisions. losing 10% to a BS death to a random AN mob or sudden/burst from altar titty shakers is not fun nor challenging. it only serves to make me feel extreme levels of salt [Removed by Support]

Yea, it's annoying. We aren't forex/stock trading here.
I don't want to grind 1h to get 50% and lose 10% just because I died to some lag or failed to notice I got some debuff draining my hp. |

This entire post is just a product of the entitlement generation, I see this all the time with young kids in my company. They think because they work hard for 3 months they should be promoted to a position that takes 10 years to get to.
If you cant get to 100, you need to change your goals. once you get to like 94, which any reasonable player can get to. Just put cod portal and grind for currency goals not level goals. D4 doesn't have an xp penalty, and people still cry about the grind. There is a threshold where game devs give too much to the community then the game becomes too easy. I think, other than the layered mechanics complication, GGG does a really good job at balancing qol and interesting complication. Last edited by Lonnie455Rich#2087 on Jul 10, 2023, 11:12:53 AM

Being upset about the 10% death penalty is a symptom of a greater disease:
the balance GGG had to do around our ludicrous levels of speed creep resulting in bullshit deaths. Speed creep needs to be reined in already. It's gone on long enough. |

The problem with reining in speed is that all of the content creators love it, and it makes good content. Its exposure for poe.

Each death should delevel you instead , that would teach you softcore bojos :D

there are 2 schools of arpg
1) max level is easy to get and on top of this you'll have a paragon leveling system that goes on infinitely, eventually you'll just softlock. Or keep gaining levels that are meaningless. If you're paragon 2247 does it matter to ding 2248? Nope. 2) max level is hard to reach and there is xp penalty that makes it even more tedious. This removes the expectation to hit max level, players settle for something much lower and attainable instead. POE is kinda inbetween. Level 100 isn't hard to get currently. Nowhere near level 99 in diablo 2 or even older POE leagues. Fullspec legion drops so many emblems for 5-ways, you can grind them solo if you don't want to spend divines to buy afk carrys. |

" I'd argue not all. |
