Had to Cancel My Diablo 3 Pre-Order

hrm I like both games. I had a decent taste of PoE now through the beta, when D3 comes out I should be wrapped up in its story/quest to inferno for a good month or so by which time POE will almost be at open beta.

6+ weeks after D3 launches is a pretty smart release date really.

I also picked up Aion again for the first time in 3 years since that went F2P, much more fun this time around than last time. Will probably play that and get bored with it in the next two weeks till D3 launch :)

Diablo always was about random loot is just... naive to think that Blizzard will do what you implying.

The current Blizzard bears little in common with the developers of D1 and D2. So this particular line of reasoning does not hold, IMO.

D3 and most games out there have some bases that will not change them if the crew changes, so my reasoning is valid, if im not mistaken Hellfire, D1's expansion wasnt made by the same ppl.

keep in mind that other than random loot, there were very little similarities between D1 and D2, gameplay wise.
The RMAH, I will use it, but only when I'm done with the game and get a little cash back.

What is wrong paying for a game? I pay to go play golf, I pay to snowboard. If PoE wouldn't be free, I would have purchased it

The difference is that in golf, you don't pay another player money to upgrade your bogey to a birdie. You already pay your green fee for D3 when you buy the game for $60.

Using the RMAH isn't paying for the game. It's paying to be better in the game.

Well no, but bogeys and birdies aren't equipment. Your suggestion would be more akin to paying to levelup or enter the next area, which isn't something you can do in D3. You can, however, pay for equipment. Just like those golfers who buy clubs.

The more accurate analogy is to imagine an amateur golf tournament where some players then pay for lessons and others do not... when it's supposed to be for people that have little to no experience, putting them all on similar footing.

nope cause the great item that one could buy, the other one can find it (same or a better one) breaking a jar, and since you cant find lesson hidden somewhere this isnt exactly an accurate analogy :)

I find it funny how people voice theor disapproval towards d3. Sure ill amdit its not exactly like everyone wanted but based on what? 13 levels in beta that isnt even a single full act out of 4?

Its like playing PoE throughout first act to 13 without getting a single support gem and multisocketed items in play and then saying wow this game has to be terrible.

Think about it for a second does this really reflect the entire game?

RMAH will destroy competitive endgame. RIGHT!
Its not since today that its known to everyone gaming online that time spent+effort in game = results.
You can easily assume that the "competitive" very top level will be minority of hardcore players who spend most of their day in game.

Am i to assume that 90% of people here is going to play hard like that? Definetly no.
Were you one of those youd know already that RMAH wont threaten you as you will have the knowledge/experience with character and all that follwos before its out there on market in sufficient quantities.

Money has never bought anyone exceptional skills and most of the time at least from my personal observation those who usually used RMAH were making up for lack of ability to play well enough.

Wake up its never going to be an equal footing neither in D3 nor in POE there will always be better bulds people with more time in game...are you going to worry about all that.

Ill probably play both but the idea of getting my cash back for game is enough to go for it - bad RMAH hell might even earn enough over time to get myself GW2 Collectors - yes very very bad for everyone /sarcasm off
