Delaying 3.13 due to Cyberpunk 2077
|
To be honest here, at first it seemed like a lowkey jab at another CP2077 delay, they would have hardly been the first to do it.
![]() Then it kicked in - "wait, what if this is a genuine attempt at an excuse?" Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Not sure why people think it matters that this might be a cover to try and get more development time. The announcement says that during the last month of heist they're going to start working on 3.14 which shows that they're not using the Cyberpunk announcement to ensure the next league will work properly, which is kind of alarming because the circumstances surrounding Steelmage's last death show that they need to finish ironing out problems with Heist, let alone what new problems will come with new leagues.

" Exactly. I'm not interested in Cyberpunk, and whilst delaying POE does suck, its not unreasonable nor unexpected to see the launch date moved to avoid a clash with one of the most hyped games in years. This practice is fairly common across the entertainment industry, from albums to movies, and yes games as well. They launched blight around the release of wow classic and they took a huge hit. For those that aren't aware, you can find the figures in the table below. Approximately 110k-120k day 1 players in the 3 leagues prior to blight, and then 75k in Blight.. ![]() Now Cyberpunk has much more hype behind it and appeals to far more players than wow classic, I'd imagine we would see a much bigger decline in the initial playerbase for 3.13 relative to the previous leagues. " Because it's the only reasonable explanation. Occam's razor and all. CB77 isn't even direct contender, it's a different genre with different target group. Yes, it will pull active poe players away for a period of time, as can do any popular long waited game. Gaming market is flourishing, pandemic and lockdowns fuel it even further, there's a bunch of new releases. Delay your game any time a perspective release is around the corner? What happens if a direct contender is about to hit, let's say D4? Shut off and hibernate until danger's off? It makes little to no sense, you know. According to simultaneous work over 3.13 and 3.14, there's nothing uncommon, that's how ggg's working schedule always went. The difference now is they get a month free, for whatever reasons. I dont mind it. People are overreacting like its the end of the world. Relax. Imagine Chris sitting alone and thinking which cource of actions to take. It wasnt easy. Honestly, i dont think he did it just to screw you over. If it had to be delayed one month, then it means it was necessary.
Edit: I do think that it is very likely that they just needed more development time, but still it doesnt change what i said - If it had to be delayed one month, then it means it was necessary "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" - Edmund Burke Last edited by Toshis8#1464 on Oct 29, 2020, 8:21:37 AM

" You know what they say... If you can't handle the heat.. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."
Poe 0.2/10 Returning to poe in 3.27: ATROCIOUS game performance, 5/10 league and I apprently missed the loot back in the last league. The more things change the more they stay the same.. |

"I'm not talking about what is or isn't a reasonable explanation, I'm saying that even if that were the case it pretty much means nothing because they're not using the extended league time to effectively add development time. 3.13 is still going to be on a 3 month schedule. |

They can't blame COVID as Chris has already said with NZ doing an amazing job keeping it under tap. It's not impacted them as much as other devs.
Could have just said he wants to give the team the Christmas off and will run a proper flashback league. Feel it's going to be one of those lackluster flashbacks they do. |

" They might invested in CP devs company and this product so now adv its here lol. RIP PoE tho, everyone knows its ded alrdy ;) Its sold, making money in Tencent parp, who cares about english client rly xD |

" That would have been better I suppose. As for the flashback I don't know unless it's INSANELY good to justify this I don't think they might recover from the damage (trust wise) to some players at all..
