Delaying 3.13 due to Cyberpunk 2077
" Right? Even mentioning another game in your delay announcement is an own goal if ever I saw one. People WANT that delay. They want more time taken with expansion/league development and testing. And IF that delay happens to coincide with a highly-anticipated game's supposed release, shit, that's a nice bonus. You don't just outright say it. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Leagues should be four months long anyway.

" How the "mighty" have fallen... I'm sorry to say, but TencentGGG are hard working on making me NOT even consider future "support" on the table, with their current abysmal quality of Heist launch, and indecisions regarding how to better meet their own goals. The bad pretext was also a "low blow", as I always expected them to shift their schedule as for the last few years, the December update of PoE was plagued by the holiday break that made patching a PITA... Publicly touting you're not having "sufficient" confidence in your own game, should have never, ever been on the table, and the right "excuse" would have been to own their asinine Heist launch, and simply say "we need a bit more time to do better, so we will delay the 3.13 content until we actually are confident you receive the content you're deserving". Not more, not less. As it stands, I'm happy that I stopped supporting PoE at the right time and since then I'm the proud owner of 2 Dota 2 Aegis replicas... ^^ Sad times ahead... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"... Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... Last edited by sofocle10000#6408 on Oct 29, 2020, 12:19:16 AM

" Genshin Impact, Remnant, Dragon's Crown, Wolcen (of course!), Last Epoch, whatever 'freebies' PS+ throws at me (most recently, Vampyr), Elite:Dangerous, KOA:Re-Reckoning, No Man's Sky, Crypt of the Necrodancer...and that's just off the top of my head. There wouldn't be time for a demanding bitch like PoE with even half of those titles going at once. And I haven't even shown a whit of interest in CP2077. My PC would probably not show it off well and the Ps4, well...were this any other year I'd be playing a ps5 by now. -_- If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" GGG will never get their shit together though.. this isn't fantasy land. |

" Well, I do have most of those too, and you're right that they stack nicely with both the $ and the time investment, but I always sunk most of my disposable income & time on PoE and Dota 2 before... CP2077 will be a decent game, but it won't be the "best game ever"... A PS5 and/or XBSX will be necessary to get a "next gen" experience starting from Christmas, and at least until sometime next year, cheaper PC alternatives are a no go - the current AMD launches are simply too good, and that "goodness" will trickle down towards budget systems next year... Planning to upgrade my current notebook ASAP, because next summer I'm gonna start the best journey of my life (gonna have a little Exile/Dota 2 player to share gaming with ^^)... " Dude, it just sets the worst possible precedent. Overtly delaying so as not to butt heads with a completely different game is tantamount to admitting you don't have much faith in your own product. Either someone's got their hand up Chris' butt and is moving his mouth for him or being TencentGGG's MD has really gotten to him, because this just isn't the sort of thing I'd ever have expected him to say publicly let alone Announce. He was and should be the master of spin. This isn't spin; it's tailspin. I'm baffled. But I'm content to remain baffled rather than try to find out what's going on because honestly the truth is probably even less assuaging than whatever batshit theories we can come up with. " I have interest in Cyberpunk 2077, and many PoE players I know do. Everybody I know besides my grandma is keenly interested in Cyberpunk 2077. What now? PoE league is always, so it has no kind of priority for me. I skip the start, end or middle for every other big release. Usually getting in after three weeks form start makes the experience better with major patches out and stabilizied economy. Heist felt buggy and rushed. They need more time for the next. From monetary standpoint league starts are obviously important to them. They want press and streamers to generate publicity. Even if the idea comes from Tencent, it´s not a bad one. China has crazy preoder-numbers for Cyberpunk. But there are players, who would pour gazoline over their burning house if only Tencent told them to get water. " This word creation sounds so Trump. I would honestly try avoid it, makes most pointed criticism sound like rant. Last edited by Querne#6049 on Oct 29, 2020, 1:20:47 AM

TencentGGG is the reality.
As many old dinosaurs from alpha/beta might want to deny that it happened, it did happen. No "shame" to face what are you today. Personally I think this is a big L for several things: - Looks incredible weak to the public. - No faith in their normal players only streamers and all the circus they bring. - Middle finger to all of the alpha/beta testers. - No legit mention of other companies releasing expansions or games too at the same time but will acknowledge only cyberpunk. - Nothing is going to be polished if things went wrong on 3.13 due the entire playerbase not testing for them and dev's reacting to the feedback. I could go and go a bit more but I guess this will turn into another dead horse soonish. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."
Poe 0.2/10 Returning to poe in 3.27: ATROCIOUS game performance, 5/10 league and I apprently missed the loot back in the last league. The more things change the more they stay the same.. |

as someone who led projects and sw teams for years:
the 'new development methodology' they wave around is.. hot air you cannot get different results when: - you want to achieve the same thing - you have the same people - the same time span - you do the change MONTH in, aka you have 2 months to achieve what you have planned for 3 the firm belief that using different words and slight priority changes will reverse SEVERAL YEARS worth of culture-tech-debt is pure madness. as i can see it: they needed ANY plausible excuse to delay it. they took first thing that was 'big enough'. if NZ had second c19 lockdown - that would be the stated reason i wont be playing cyberpunk, i doubt many hardcore poe players will - poe relies on addiction and repetition, cyberpunk/witcher is a one time adventure (you can ofc replay it several times and it is still great but thats not the intended use) so i hardly believe this is the reason we (you, i dont play it) are half-way trough heist. it is still a steaming pile of bugs and bad design. i believe the resources spent on fixing it cut DEEP into 3.13 resource pool. and they wanted to release new league 1.5m from now on? if i takes on average 3 weeks to fix the release mess? ofc this is a monetary shock for company - no more hype-driven pack sales. and there is a serious risk game like cyberpunk (game that i hope is like witcher - aka it makes you enjoy EVERY moment of it, not only the good loot drop every few hours, rest filled with brainless grind) will break addiction for some players. on the other hand - it clearly shows how much REAL confidence there is for 3.13 (hint: not much) |
