Delaying 3.13 due to Cyberpunk 2077
|
I feel you. I dont have a reddit account so i couldnt see the poll votings on people even playing/buying cybercringe.
GGG really dropped the ball here, delaying their game for a game from a totally different genre. Lost my faith in ggg´s decission making yesterday, why didnt they say they delay to fix their game and we get so flashback races. i hate you redditors, you know who you are

" "Actions speak louder than words"... Taking 36 hours to delay the December update after CP2077 delay announcement leaves such a bad impression that I can simply state not "What are they thinking?" but "Are they thinking AT ALL?"... And as the worst slap on the face of all us players, it's not even the question of further providing proper QA, QC and the "best experience possible", but simply a cold take on "nope, we will move on with our currently flawed schedule as we gained some more time to annoy you with the provided subpar experience, because reasons (moar $$$ MTX, moar @#%& etc.)..." Well, they are losing both goodwill and respect a lot faster than they stand to gain it back, the proper QoL of stash tab folders and affinity don't even pick my interest too much anymore... At least it seems I will actually have the time to try Heist during the Flashback/Mayhem/whatever events, if I'll not be too busy with other BETTER and MORE FUN GAMES... ^^ PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"... Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... Last edited by sofocle10000#6408 on Oct 29, 2020, 4:45:16 AM

watched some cp2077 trailers, wasn't impressed.
looks like a asian version of gta on steroids with more hookers and pimps, its not looking promising regarding gameplay depth. anyway, i wonder what ggg will do if cp2077 also misses its december release date? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! " https://kotaku.com/path-of-exile-expansion-gets-the-hell-out-of-cyberpunks-1845513240 Do they though? If this is an outsider's view, then I despair for the industry. I really do. I mean, let's take just one line from the post: " It's easy to read this as 'we don't think our players are smart enough to make decisions for themselves', and were I still a player of PoE, I'd be insulted at this implication that we lack that sort of basic agency. I still can't get my head around the fact that the person who wrote this godawfully worded, utterly tone-deaf announcement is the same genius who convinced an entire genre's worth of players that f2p isn't inherently evil, that Diablo isn't the last word in ARPGs, that Garena wasn't an unmitigated disaster, and that Tencent buying GGG wouldn't change anything. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

It's obvious ggg has internal issues, and CB77 launch just got used as an excuse.
There's ongoing trend of lower and lower quality ggg provided over time, which peaked with the last two leagues. Especially this one is disastrous, ggg lost even the reddit fanboy squad. With CB77 Chris is once again buing time - to lower down the pressure over developer team, implementing new developer practices as he mentioned, eventually polishing the incoming new league. So 3.13 delay may eventually not be a bad thing after all, for both developers and us players. What's most interesting, is how he managed to convince Chinese overlords in slowing down the cash flow. As profit will inevitably get trimmed and also main market (chinese) is not as pretentious as western one hence quality doesn't matter as much. This is a buff © 2016

" im in this industry since late 90's. ive seen LOTS of stuff. and one thing stands out. if you have team issues for YEARS, you cannot fix it with the same TEAM (people). sorry, it doesnt work. you can fix recent issues, you can add new things but if something 'worked' for years no amount of words is going to change that. you have to change (replace or add many new) people in the LEADING positions. ive seen companies like GGG - starting 10 strong ending up 200 strong. VERY rarely these 'founders' were in any place but the top. sometimes in the roles that outgrew them, frequently sticking to habits that got them out of the garage when leading multi-million projects in general i do not trust what PR spokeperson tells me. but i flatout refuse to believe the fairytales about new development methods fixing long-term issues overnight. this is pure bollocks. if 10 people did one thing for 5 years and it worked you need A LOT MORE than few weeks to switch tracks. be it time or simply replacing people and rebuilding the team. any other way is doomed to fail. and - these years old 'problems' werent problem for GGG devs. these 'problems' made them rich, set up for the rest of their lives. thats why they had (and i believe still have) no reason to change their ways. it prints money, why? (plus - as with any company that gone 'trading' - when few employees get millionaries over night and another few dont.. the team spirit is gone. there is no mending there. been there, got stock options, lost friends. overnight. |

They probably are worried not to get as much money from supporter packs and mtx as planned if PoE collides with Cyberpunk 2077.

Leagues last for 3 months.
What's the difference if people buy new league supporter packs the 1st month vs the 2nd/3rd month? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They only thing it feels they are worried is that their big streamers wont even touch poe despite having a new league. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."
Poe 0.2/10 Returning to poe in 3.27: ATROCIOUS game performance, 5/10 league and I apprently missed the loot back in the last league. The more things change the more they stay the same.. |

" Your statement is correct, but I suspect there's not much Chris can do about it. At least at the moment. We need to take into account that he is between a rock and a hard place - there's the tencent pressure, there's the obvious low quality of certain employees due to job restrictions for foreign workers in this region, there are responsible team leaders with often questionable vision and abilities who are also shareholders hence untouchable. My personal opinion covers yours - current shitshow is the result of inadequate leadership and planning over the years. Paired with greed - ggg has bitten way more than it can chew, it's bloody obvious. But it's what it is, I'm just sharing my personal opinion about the 3.13 delay - that it's about buying time. I'm not saying there will be drastic long term improvements, taking into account the aforementioned reasons. I'm not planning to play Cyberpunk, but a game update being put back a few weeks is hardly anything to be annoyed about either. It's not like they're turning off the servers for that month; the game is still going to be there to play.
