So why is the chineese client a much better game than the western one?

well bigger inventory and higher pick up radius would be nice to see...

I appreciate Blizzard and D3 more and more as time goes on. They did so many great things for their fans and it was all free, aside from the initial game cost. It feels like the opposite with GGG now....and yes I cringe at the number of useless pets in my mtx stash.

To be honest I like it this way more as you only pay after you try and like the game. I've bought quite a few games that ended up with minimal game time.
I mean the general answer to the question is that the Chinese client isn't bogged down by GGG's preconceived notions of what does and does work.

I don't. ^_~

Come on, delete them all. ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING IT.

specially the kiwi, right?

All of them. They had a good life at my side, and later in my zoo...which I felt was a cruel thing to do until I saw GGG's idea of one.

I just turn all mine loose in my HO. They all run, crawl and fly around keeping me company while I'm there.

So I've been thinking about this even more, and it's an interesting notion that I think a lot of us didn't really consider when the Tencent Acquisition went down and we learned there'd be a domestic PoE for China totally separate from ours. Maybe GGG themselves didn't consider this...

But it would have been ludicrous to have this discussion in 2018. That a non-GGG PoE could be any good, could be better than the original. We all assumed it'd be a pay-to-win crapfest with bugger-all QoL, out-of-character events and generally something we'd all be able to point and laugh at. Sure, you can buy GGG and use their game as a framework for your nefarious, cheap p2w desires...no worries.

Now that people are actually noticing that things didn't quite turn out that way, the real repercussion of the Tencent Acquisition is becoming more distinct: it's not that Tencent was going to ruin YOUR PoE; it's that they'd show more love and attention to THEIRS.

A lot of people seem to forget that both versions of the game, are being developed by GGG. And I, for one, wouldn't call the Chinese version "better". Different? Yes. Some pros? Sure? Some cons? Definitely.

Both trade improvements and pick-up pets go beyond QoL, and are touching both the market, balance and progression of the game, both indirectly and directly. I understand that this isn't black or white, and that they are hesitent to implement it, especially if they for some reason would feel forced to go with the "P2W-route".

Anyhow, I would very much like GGG's side of the story when it comes to not implementing some sort of build planner and ascendancy preview into the Western client. The features ARE developed. They ARE ready. They ARE working. So what is their reasoning for not implementing them? I struggle to understand it.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
They have created the problem but they are not willing to sell the solution without "crossing" the path of their own words..

Now some people is begging for rented auto loot pet along with the console trade without any human "interaction" (laughable the interaction: ty, t4t, thanks, nothing and leave, no answer at all or another price fixer)

The game has reach to this point because of their own self inflicted wounds.. too proud to give up and come clean. Too stubborn to change their ways.

poe wont be remembered for the good things if they keep choosing this path. Sure having rented pets that loot stuff or the console AH isnt going to fix it but I suppose that at this point they don't even know the answer either.

poe0.2/10. Nuff said.

I do not care for the better/worse argument -- it's subjective and pointless imo. But as to which version seems to get more love? I think that's far easier to ascertain, and it's equally easy to ascertain *why*. Back into speculation territory: domestic supporters are treated like VIPs because that's a concept over there. Indeed, 'VIP pack' is an incredibly common Asian f2p feature. Why shouldn't it be? VIP is a real-life concept, so it only makes sense it'd exist in a virtual sense assuming your players haven't already been conditioned to hate pay to win. And this is another win for TencentGGG: they can add a bunch of stuff that would be abhorrent to us but still falls far short of the domestic idea of 'predatory'.

So it follows, in fact it seems almost more ethical, that people willing to put money in get the perks of a smoother, more flexible gameplay experience. Freeloaders are a burden, tolerated but not rewarded or encouraged. Unpopular opinion around here but I'm willing to bet it's not a rare sentiment in a lot of f2p circles.
