There was the Garena era, which saw GGG try to penetrate lesser markets like Russia and SE Asia, but never a Chinese client. In a way, I think this whole thing was inevitable: you either play nice with the very rich, very ruthless Chinese megacorps or they don't play nice with you. That sure is a pretty game you got there, would be a shame if someone were to copy it for people who can't play it...

I think you're referring to the Garena era of PoE; I was part of that time and lost my account when the PoE Garena and International merged. If I remember correctly, and as Forevahappy has stated, it also included the SE Asia players (where I used to be)

The main point of contention here in this thread does not bode well for GGG. Unfair treatment will push players and supporters away.
It's not even unfair so much as it is physically damaging.

The current loot system forces so many unnecessary click actions to collect loot, that even with a top-flight and well-tuned loot filter, it's still not uncommon to hear of people quitting PoE because it is causing them actual physical pain. The game is quite literally PHYSICALLY INJURING some of its players because of GGG's stubbornness over loot collection.

An AH or other QoL things the Chinese client has also have some effect on this, even if only indirectly, but PoE's loot collection is really the most excessive aspect of GGG wasting our time by forcing mundane tasks on us just to pad out their hours played per player metrics.

Loot collection, inventory tetris, hundreds of shards and bits of shit to collect every new league, a 'complex' skill tree that is really a stat tree that literally can split 15% of something into 5 nodes to claim expansive complex planning....lol
Hundreds of trash 'uniques'....it's a long list of things that distract players from absent actual gameplay. But it's been working and continues to work on many, so good job ggg.

Learning to make your own loot filter must be really hard. Only if there was some tool or site that can help you figure that rocket science out.
