One day.
When you buy a car, do you expect airbags standard ? or do you install them yourself ? jack up and sort out your own abs maybe ?
Your point is misguided, at best.

Yikes. Nice comparison. Real solid, buddy.
Just open filterblade and tell me how hard it is to hide chromatics and xoph splinters. Equal to or harder than installing your own airbags, right?

I used filterblade, and I get what you mean, but If you were buying a car and asked about safety features, and the salesman told you 'go to a garage and install it your self' are you buying that car or the one that comes with safety stock ?
If you're buying a firewall and you ask about incident reporting and the salesman refers you to a third party unsupported site that can do reports, do you buy that, or the firewall that has it standard ?
I get the workaround point, but the issue is why do the developers of the game make content that players need third party tools to deal with ?

VERY few people are claiming that an AH would "ruin" the game. A LOT of people are claiming that an AH would "drastically change" the game. And it would - on so many levels, from the market, to balance, all the way through difficulty. It all boils down to personal preferences, where you want the source of balance to be placed, and how much trading you er OK with being "expected" to do.
An AH wouldn't ruin the game. It would even make the game better for some players. For others? Well, it would make the game worse, at least in the long run. But people are even using the term "AH" for a non-instant, non-auction trade system these days, so it's impossible to even have a discussion around.
Anyhow, people claiming it would ruin the game? VERY hyperbolic.
People claiming it wouldn't drastically change the game? VERY naive.
Plenty of people have said this. Please do go through some of the many trade / AH threads if you have doubts.
Even GGG in their trade manifesto, claims that an AH would impact gear progression negatively, cause less playtime due to a percieved reduction in the gear chase, and overall reduce player retention.
Basically I call BS on all that since trade marketplaces are already functioning live.
Essentially saying "nothing to see here" just fosters a lack a credibility for the Devs in the eyes of educated players.
*note this is the same for all the other points raised in the test thread featuring Streamers that actually experienced this on the Chinese servers.
Not to mention that we don't play the game to get gear drops. We play the game to farm currency for hours on end untill we can afford to buy our gear from the 3rd party websites...

Now that people are actually noticing that things didn't quite turn out that way, the real repercussion of the Tencent Acquisition is becoming more distinct: it's not that Tencent was going to ruin YOUR PoE; it's that they'd show more love and attention to THEIRS.
A lot of people seem to forget that both versions of the game, are being developed by GGG. And I, for one, wouldn't call the Chinese version "better". Different? Yes. Some pros? Sure? Some cons? Definitely.
Both trade improvements and pick-up pets go beyond QoL, and are touching both the market, balance and progression of the game, both indirectly and directly. I understand that this isn't black or white, and that they are hesitent to implement it, especially if they for some reason would feel forced to go with the "P2W-route".
Anyhow, I would very much like GGG's side of the story when it comes to not implementing some sort of build planner and ascendancy preview into the Western client. The features ARE developed. They ARE ready. They ARE working. So what is their reasoning for not implementing them? I struggle to understand it.
Auto pickup and trade improvements would be a great addition for me.
Clicking 100 times per second ruined my wrist when I played D2 a couple of years ago, so aything that helps reduce the RSI is a godsend! Most of you guys have no idea how bad it is for the wrist to be playing the current PoE with a million shard drops in every single map.
Also trade improvements will make this a better game without a doubt. There is simply no discussion left there.
Adding some of the external 3rd party resources to the actual game is a great possibility for making the game better for new players and old ones alike. I came back to the game for heist league and it really made me wonder "Why do I have to have about 25-30 browser tabs open at all time in order to play the game?" And why are Path of Building and poe.trade in the state that they are? Oh maybe its because noone is compensating those good people to continually invest their time in a product that heavily benefits GGG?

Ofcourse in 2020 having the tools to build and plan your game characters can not possibly be available IN-GAME! Such magic exists only in the world of 3020 and beyond!

Finding out that Filterblade exists was one of the funniest jokes that I heard in 2020! Imagine having so many useless drops in the game that you create an entire scripting language so players can hide those? And imagine having to have such huge and bloated scripts in order to play the game that players have to make a 3rd party application to help manage those scrips? And imagine someone defending that practice? I mean... if it wasnt funny it would be tragic...
