So if you don't mind so called "pay2win" then you don't understand the nature of the game?

I dunno if anyone told you this yet, but you really are full of yourself.

Considering I wasn't even responding to you, I question which of us thinks more highly of themselves, i.e. is 'full of themselves.'

Despite your offensive approach, I will answer as best I can. This is not something someone who is 'full of themselves' would do. They'd likely tell you to fuck off in some manner, or maybe start some sort of ad hominem exchange -- indeed, that's precisely what you've done. I'll overlook it, this time and every time. I ask that you do not take too much advantage of that.

By the 'nature of the game', I meant the fact that xxnoob and myself, given his previous post, seem to understand and agree that the point of playing is to play. The process rather than the destination. But if winning within the constraints of the game is a part of that, well and good. But to go outside of the game to win, that is distasteful to us. That is, I believe, not part of the nature of the game. It's a shortcut, and Aesop made a very salient point about those.

My acceptance of pay-to-win in the context of a free MMO is that I haven't actually paid a cent to play it in the first place. If some measure of monetary input is required to be competitive, so be it. We could call that 'pay to play' essentially (as was the case with Allods eventually) but 'pay to win' is the standard term for the described model.

I accept it but choose not to play it. And, if indeed you want to call me out as 'full of myself', you can have this to chew on: if I wanted to play pay to win, I'd be very, very good at it.

Edit: kudos for the BG quote. I'm an avid fan.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

No, it's exactly what someone like that would do.

You share an opinion, that is all. It's not the ultimate truth and you can only speak for yourself. So don't tell me or anyone else that we don't understand the "nature of the game" because we don't share your opinion.

So why do you enjoy paying to win? Do you enjoy it at all?

For what it's worth, noob, I really dislike agreeing with you, because you don't even play this game anymore, but the post to which I was responding? 100%.

Have you ever refueled your car instead of letting it die and catching the bus? Bought more costly food rather than choosing to live on rice and beans? Bought the softer brand of toilet paper over the horrible thin brands? Paid to play a videogame? Paid to play a videogame that you know will be free, even?

Life is full of things that don't have a "point". I dare say that most of the things money gets spent on in the world are not strictly necessary to anyone. Yet they enjoy them, nonetheless. Why is this suddenly surprising when the item exists only within a computer?

Well,

When you get yourself into situation's where people are willing to take you up on that statement "to literly open your skull and claw their knives on in your mind", I'm certain you will find that its not that open currently.
