Diablo 3 played and here are the grim result's
" That's precisely why I refrained from comparing over-all difficulty. But there are certain mechanics that are already in Diablo III that just bug me, because they, well, automate things that not automated would present "challenge" of sorts. Let's compare my first death in PoE with my first death in D III. PoE: I'm in the Submerged Passage with my sorceress. So far, the game was easy. Too easy, and I was careless. I got swarmed by a few mobs, forgot to drink a potion in time because I was surprised at how quickly my life was drained, and bit it in a matter of seconds. Reaction: "I'll better be a bit more careful from now on, and have an eye on my potions". Diablo III: Hasn't happened yet. I got swarmed by monsters, stood (as Demon Hunter) my ground, finger on my potion key (I had learned from PoE, after all) and before I could even hit it, the game had automatically pressed it. Reaction? "Huh. Don't even have to have an eye on my health bar. Refills automatically. Well then, no need to be careful at all". To top it off, your character even gives audio feedback when he drinks a potion: "My wounds are lessened" and such. And all that talk about Blood Raven: Blood Raven was found in an off-area if the Cold Plains - the second area anyone saw in the game. I'D say judging from the fact that apparently Leoric is 1/3 into the first Act, he would be more comparable to Treehead Woodfist? Just saying. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human. Last edited by Avireyn#0756 on Apr 21, 2012, 11:24:07 AM

" Huh, played through the whole Beta and didn't notice that cause my health never got low in the sea of health orbs, but if that is true then D3 is even worse than i thought. Last edited by Khodar#1178 on Apr 21, 2012, 11:26:32 AM

D3 is a disappointment because there is no character developoment

I've been playing D3 during this open beta weekend and I must say that the Path of Exile stress test weekend was a much better experience all around. I agree with all the points OP made. While I can overlook the graphics I can't really overlook how disappointing D3 is as a whole. The game's world feels really linear and straight forward to the point that D2 feels like an open world game in comparison. There are no skill trees to be found anywhere or even any choices to be made. The skill progression doesn't give you any choice to altering your character. If I play a Witch Doctor and you play a Witch Doctor we are playing identical characters. As a whole I was just really let down. Path of Exile felt more like a Diablo game to me then D3 honestly and PoE is free.

I don't think there's auto potion drinking in D3, when the character say something about regaining health it's because they got a health orb while they were low on health. Until I noticed the orb thing I was wondering what on earth was going on.
The D3 beta would probably compare to only playing PoE until Brutus. How many found that difficult? I've died in neither PoE or D3 but have probably play PoE a bit longer but not much. D3 is what I expected. It won't compare to D2 because I played that game when I still a young lad and not a sour old 29 year old. I doubt any game can feel the same to me as D1 and D2. I do however find D3 more dark than D2 and it felt combat flow faster as well. I like the graphics and it doesn't remind me much of WoW which I play as well. As expected for me D3 tops PoE in most areas, and give the budget that's natural. However the skill system in D3 is quite disappointing. It felt a bit like the unlock system in Battlefield 3. It makes sense in BF3 but in D3 it's just boring as it removes builds from the equation. Here PoE beats D3 by a mile and since PoE will probably be around for quite a while I think it might end up having more lasting appeal. D3 will be quite dependant upon expansions for lasting appeal as mods and builds are out. |

" Those that are complaining about their HP filling automatically simply didn't notice that a Health Orb dropped right where they were standing while killing something so their character auto picks it up and gets healed. The skill system does not remove builds from the equation. In fact, it gives you more freedom with builds. Instead of having a skill tree where you have 2 options 1) put points where ever you think and end up with a broken character or 2) Follow a guide and build a working character for end game. Neither is fun and option 2 is an illusion of choice. Your builds come from selecting 6 actives skills and 3 passive skills that work together and suit your play style. You aren't locked in to those selections permanently so it's less punishing in that regard. There are systems in place for end game to make you focus on a build and not swap out everywhere all the time. Also, complaining about lack of customization when you only have 13 levels to play (with content reaching level 8) is silly. As for the beta being linear and easy, it was intended that way. The first hour or so up to the Skeleton King is considered a tutorial section by Blizzard. It's meant to be a bit more guided. For those of you who didn't know, there was a bug in the beta that let some of us leave the confines of the beta area. I can tell you from personal experience that the areas beyond the SK are much wider, have more points of interest and start to introduce champions with new affixes that means you get owned if you're not paying attention. If you don't like the guided approach, I welcome those of you to look in the options and disable tutorial pop ups and enable Elective Mode. Your welcome. “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.”

" Can your 4 year old cousin right click his way past Nightmare, Hell and Inferno? Get back to me when that happens and then you have a legitimate complaint. “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things.
