Exp Loss is freaking unbalanced
Agree^^
that last page was hilarious though. |

Skill, to me, when it comes to gaming, is about timing, knowing when to act, and reflexes. PoE requires very little of any of those. Most loot based ARPGs are the same way.

A lot of you underestimate what some of the really good racers do. I would suggest watching them sometime.
I'll give one good example: Some of them will take their armor off between fights and switch it back on only when they stop to kill packs. This is because your armor reduces your movement speed, and every second counts. |

Title of this thread says "EXP LOSS IS FREAKING UNBALANCED". I dare to say the subtitle implies discussion in the thread should be focusing on experience loss, death penalty in general and related topics.
Any reason last 2 pages are completely derailed into a "POE requires/POE does not require skill" spam fest? |

"Because 'skill' is apparently what keeps the 'hardcore' from dying all the time, so they're OK with the XP penalty. But this game doesn't need skill, just perseverance and the right build, and even then the Net code will kill you. |

I understand the need for some death penalty, but the exp loss as it stands now in merciless when you are above level 70 makes my friend and I not want to play when we die in a map. We just recently ditched a map due to this because of dying going from 77% exp to 47% exp from just 2 deaths which represents hours of play time it is just disheartening to play. If the exp loss was even just decreased per each difficulty level I believe this would be a great improvement.

" So you prefer FPS games ? :P I recommend Planetside 2, fun game where timing, knowing when to act and reflexes are at a premium. |

"Did I say I HAVE skill? Hell no, I don't, it's why I play Loot Based ARPGs. It's because they're not ever 'hard core'. PoE is unfun because the Devs have no idea that balance in these games actually favour the player. Because of the limited mechanics set that players are given. There's a reason why the FF7 Materia system was in a Turn Based RPG, as was the FFX Passives Skill tree was in a pseudo-Real Time, turn based RPG. Trying to shove both systems into a Diablo 2 clone was cute and clever, but if you limit it to 5 actual builds, then you defeat the purpose of the entire system. My problem with PoE is that it's not a very professional job. The production values are cute, but balance? They have no clue what they're doing, or at least that's the impression they've given with their ridiculous armour system, the over powered bosses, and forced gear checks at various points in the same difficulty level. |
