Exp Loss is freaking unbalanced
Absolutely not a strawman.
Take a look at those same players who finish high in the races. A large number of them also have characters high up on the hardcore ladder. Also, this game isn't all about end game maps. Simply ignoring the progression portion of the game is silly. The skill in this game isn't so much about twitch reactions as it is about making builds that maintain the highest level of viability throughout all stages of play. |

" Of course, because copying cookie-cutter builds from the forum requires a masters degree and decades of training. |

Oh sorry. I didn't realize everyone's build had to be cookie cutter.
I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people who play the game don't spend any time looking at the forums. I've personally made numerous successful builds without utilizing anyone's guide to do so. And also, those cookie cutter builds had to come from somewhere. Who's to say that there aren't other builds out there that are just as effective? Obviously someone who always follows a guide for the FotM build isn't. Last edited by Pastromy#5792 on Apr 3, 2013, 7:41:46 PM

" And those are the people who don't win in races, and are, according to you, "bad players". |

I made an implication that the top racers were good players. I said nothing about the converse. In no way did I suggest the implication was two-sided.

" And I'm telling you that it takes no skill to make a cookie-cutter build, which is the only way to win races. Being good at races does NOT mean you are a better player than anyone else. |

If that were the case, then the distribution seen on the race ladder standings would be far more uniform. Obviously, the top players are doing something different.

" Racing and normal play are completely different. Racing has a speed aspect that is absent in normal play, and it is that which those top player capitalizes on. It is completely irrelevant in the actual game. Last edited by tinghshi#7226 on Apr 3, 2013, 8:29:08 PM

Well competitive racing is also pretty much a joke due to how much RNG there is in the game

If the same people consistently come ahead in races, it's mostly due to very good knowledge of the game. Not only the builds, but how the game works, the mobs/abilities etc. (Active)Skill still plays a part, how small, it's basically impossible to quantify.
People that (partially) quoted me the previous page, please read the whole post. I never said that PoE requires a lot of skill. But we need to be fair and name things as they are, not exaggerate, and PoE takes some amount of skill to be played, not a lot, but it is there. I'd be happy to see active skill play a bigger part and mentioned that before. Exaggerating the facts will just endlessly feed the trolls... placeholder for creative sig
