Wolcen overtook POE as the new number 1 arpg game on Steam (127k concurrent players at the moment)

This is off-topic but I'm intrigued as to why it is any different to play on Steam or via stand-alone client?

My game runs pretty much the same and since I prefer to have all games on Steam, just because, I opted for Steam version.

The only difference is how patching works but since I have unlimited 250MB broadband it is really no issue for me.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I've been saying it for years, poe only reaps an abysmal amount of the potential ARPG players due the their choices and neglect of convenience polish and respect for players time. They didn't even do proper guilds that work in a sensible way in the year 2020. lulul, they lost so many oppertunity.

The amount of people getting butthurt over this. Relaxxxxxxxx it's just meaningless numbers and you are still able to enjoy both games.

Competition is a good thing it promotes diversity and even better ideas.

So if anything it's a good thing as it will give the Poe team some ideas to what other things that are not in the game currently people like.

Enjoying another game from the same genre doesn't mean you are cheating on your beloved Poe so chill....

These numbers are something to write home about for the wolcen team but in the long term poe will prevail.

It's just the hype that propelled wolcen to these hights.
A few weeks time, the snow melts and you see where the turds lie.

this thread is living proof that only certain poe loyalists see "competition" on every single game.. it's okay zealots your game wont die so long people keep paying overpriced microtransactions..

It is good that games like Wolcen releases so Path of Exile gets some competition on the market.

I dont like the POE model on being "F2P" and depending on MTX packs and stash sales. I prefer buying a game and then play it without looking like a clown if im not wearing some highly overpriced MTX skins. I dont think Wolcen will be around popular for very long, but when the new diablo comes out POE needs to step up. In the current state a MTX armor set will have the same cost as the new diablo or any other new game out there... and that really says something.
