I am sure you have heard the old phrase, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

In the 7 years or so I have played PoE I have not seen a league even close to the friggen mess they had over at Wolcen.

But I can tell from your reply we are just going to have to agree to disagree, because we all have an opinion.

I think I can count on 1 hand the number of disconnects I have had in PoE, have you checked your own network?

One final note, PoE isn't charging me to play EVER ... it's solely at my own free will that I decide to spend money on MTX, supporter packs etc.

Wolcen however tried to sell me a "finished product" ... and to remind you it was not the version they were promoting up to release ... the ole bait and switcharoo comes to mind.

You probably haven't read any tech forum threads, there are tons of ppl who complain about performance issues even while they play pretty decent PCs. My laptop handles main games pretty well, like i say i can play WOW 25man raids with no problem and medium settings at same time i lag and get DCs in POE with minimum settings. And don't come to tell me that its my connection or my laptop fault because POE is the onlyest game that have so many problems and constantly, they haven't removed the problems. I am always ready to pay if i get quality gameplay. Atm Wolcen gameplay is much much more stable than POE, my laptop fans dosen't fly away.

While it is very true that PoE has had a very bad performance track record, I can state from 100% personal experience that now It plays rock solid performance wise. Yes, forever I complained about bad QoP while running on a 4 core. 3.5 GHz Intel cpu and 8 GB ram, Samsung 840 SSD, and AMD R270. Here's my upgrade history:

1. Upgrading to an Intel 1060 AMP gpu in Breach league.
Allowed me to be able to run breaches. Before that totally unplayable (single digit fps).
2. Upgraded gaming rig to a Dell T3610 with 16 GB ram and Xeon E5-1620 v2 cpu @3.7 GHz. Very little QoP change.

Over the course of 2019 my link to the Dallas realm got worse and worse. WDC realm was totally unplayable by the middle of 2019 (DC every couple of minutes). By November I was forced to switch to Predictive mode as Lockstep was super stuttering and DCing. Predictive stopped the DC problem but now I got some rubberbanding in heavy action screens and with Metamorph boss fights.

3. Was gifted a 1 GB Team Group MP 34 NVMe drive for Christmas. Once I figured out how to get Windows 7 Pro to boot from it on T3610 BIOS (used Clover boot utility) I had super fast SSD but no change to PoE QoP.
4. Was also gifted a Xeon E5-2650 v2 cpu at Christmas. 8 core (16 threads) didn't help and the raw clock speed hit made PoE play worse. Went back to the 3.7 GHz 4 core 1620 cpu.
5. Upgraded to a Xeon E5-2667 v2 cpu. 8 cores @ 3.3 to 4.0 GHz. No improvement in PoE QoP, slightly worse with the 400 MHz speed hit.
6. Microsoft ended Win 7 support and I got off my "if it ain't broke don't fix it" procrastination ass and upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 1909. It was a perfect upgrade and I didn't need to re-install any drivers.
Immediately noticed a faster loading PoE at start and character selection. Ran a low level map, all good. Turned on the mini stats. What's this!, my FPS is hitting 200 FPS in maps and pegged at 200 FPS in my hideout. How...what?... Fantastic! Ran several other red maps perfectly.

So my forever bad PoE QoP was a result of PoE being foobar-ed by Windows 7. How and why I'll never know (all other games ran perfectly). Now I'm back on Lockstep and getting great single player performance on the Dallas realm with no DCs or stuttering at all. See my full post for all details.

"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Lol how?

A bunch of people bought Wolcen, numbers were great (sales), and then its drifted lower over time, lessening their sever strain, and likely enabling them to scale back and save money on infrastructure.

Now they can work on patching, mtx, and perhaps small live service stuff.

They dont have to maintain as hard as PoE does because they got their revenue on the front end.

I can bet my left kidney GGG gets more money every league from support packs/mystery boxes than Wolcen got from all sales.

They did get their money up front, but at what cost? How many of those 127k people will come back? There are people (like my brother) who will not play POE because of desync. Seriously, something that was resolved years ago and he still won’t give it a second shot.

Reputation is a big deal to sellout on. Particularly on your first game.
Thanks for all the fish!
Who cares about Wolcen, when you got this on the horizon:

Huh, again what the fuck is this logic? The game isnt and wasnt designed the same way as PoE revenue wise.

Was Death Standing or Outer Worlds a sellout for example? Many games are sold as one shot, paid games up front.

Wolcen was designed to sell many copies up front, and maintain from there.

Grim Dawn & Diablo the same way.

Grim Dawn and Diablo didn’t release something that bad and Diablo (unfairly) gets to capitalize on Blizzards former glory. My point was that unless their plan was to sell a lemon then run for the hills, they might not be so fortunate with their next monetized release.

D3 launch and early season was PAINFUL.

Many paid games have tough launches. It happens. Not every games intends or expects people to play longer that a set amount of time. Its intentionally designed this way.

Perhaps Wolcen will shift to live service monetization now, or maybe they wont. I don't think they are worried about reputation for Wolcen 2 right now lol

Agreed, it was bad. But I don’t believe it to be this bad.

Grim Dawn did this business model much better. I think if they had patched Wolcen relatively quick then maybe they could have been okay but they still have major issues lingering.

I guess time will tell. POE Made it through some hard times. I’m personally cheering for something to come because competition is good for this genre.
