Congratulations for the team at Wolcen. They deserve the success.

POE's all time best was 123K sometime back in 2018 but never managed those player numbers again.
Do u guys think this will trigger GGG into fixing POE for a change and releasing a good quality league with finished development of it for a change, or are they going to continue ignoring how half complete the game is to just double down on POE2 development?
I wanted to go back to this given what I've been reading.
A fresh release from an otherwise unknown developer needs to go well for it to really be a success.
A bad launch is remembered.
I'm still bitter over the combat revamp in SWG all these years later. When I think EA, I think lootbox ripoff.
Bethesda is always buggy. The memes devoted to Todd Howard alone....
What I'm trying to say is that while you implied whether or not serious competition would have an effect on PoE - Wolcen isn't quite there yet. I've heard some good things, but a lot of the bad things are total deal breakers so a lot of it will come down to how well they can address both the negativity and the game breaking bugs.
The internet is already a pretty hateful place - especially more so when given valid reason.
Yep, totally over league play.

I don't quite understand how they managed this. The game has the clunkiest and choppiest combat&targeting i've ever experienced in any arpg. Items are very d3-like, too little impact. The skill/passive tree or whatever is just much worse version of poe's equivalent or grim dawns devotion system. Some of the skills feel very meh. I understand that the game is in 1.04 or something so i can just hope they patch some of these things. Atm the game is just not fun for me to play.
It sure looks nice compared to other titles, i guess that gets you far in arpg market atm. I think i'll stick to grim dawn and poe for now as i don't care about graphics that much.

Unfamiliar with Grim Dawn's system but Wolcen's tree is far more advanced than poe's. The fact that you can rotate the parts to have access to areas you normally couldn't and still keep the points you put into the rotated parts is leaps and bounds better than poe's.

I don't think it is. When you look at the diversity of the nodes and many of the individual nodes, poe's passive tree is way more interesting.

The only thing poe's tree has that makes it complex is it's sheer size. It has 0 in terms of overall utility, unlike wolcen's tree which allows you to start as one class and by virtue of it's mobility become an entirely new and custom class. It's got a much more viable multi-use pathing system.

If you think that you don't know either game .. which is astonishing given your challenges. So I conclude you are simply yet another biased hater.

The main difference, except of rotating which is cool, is the number of useless minor nodes. Main difference I found is that around 50% of minor nodes have a strength of a Major node equivalent in PoE.
Also comparing the amount of Keystones - Wolcen has more and although some of them are just equivalent to Major nodes in PoE, around 60% give unique/additional stuff to the game.
If PoE reduced the amount of minor stat nodes, I would consider it improvement. They wouldn't even need to change it a lot, every 2 minor nodes that give the same stat should be combined. Also Adding few more Keystones wouldn't hurt.

Completely silly thread. Hype train went off the rails for Wolcen, but after this honeymoon phase it'll be a footnote.

40 hours into Wolcen, annoyed by Act II boss as Melee.
Already back playing PoE.

PoE's passive tree is a noob trap.
There a TONS of nodes that for the most part, will never be selected.
For example, If you are a life build, depending on where you start, you will grab every node you can into the life wheel. Then DPS notables, etc...
If you use Path of Building often, you will notice that you are pathing the tree in similar fashion in EVERY build. There is some variation, but it's not complex once you understand it. I could see being wide-eyed as a new player seeing it for the first time. Now it's pretty much meh from a complexity standpoint.
