No Fun Allowed: Reflect Maps
|
Reflect is a symptom, not the problem. Problem is scaling.
|

Scaling is not changing though.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

You're both right, though reflect was one of the nastier mods even before GGG chose to scale damage to such stupid levels.
How long ago was it that the mod was removed from rares? I remember, because as a pure SSF player I rarely had tooltip damage over 10k in those days (though 100k was indeed possible) and it still hurt when I encountered a reflect rare. Now I see tooltip dmg of >100k on my (still exclusively SSF) players somewhat regularly. I could adjust my tree and gear to try and mitigate 75% of reflect and I would still instagib myself, it would just be with a lower number. Meaningless. Wash your hands, Exile! nasty stuff is in the game for a reason, to force you to go on lengths to avoid it.
no force, no game. only after you successfully removed the last obstacle that made you think about your build and make ingame decicions you will notice that there is no game anymore cause there is only one question, how do i get more damage. --- too few players left here who think about the game and not about pressing their personal advantage. stick your "no fun allowed" where it belongs to. i'm off, charan and the developers probably did the right thing, leaving. there is nothing of value coming out of these forums anymore, it's a degradation of it's former self. offline

" Nonsense, pure nonsense (or the less polite version : "bullshit") Reflect + thinking about building a character : I could build it this way ... oh wait, that cannot run reflect, oh well, NEXT. Brilliant, simply brilliant game design ! /s SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. " It really is and if you don't like it simply play a frog barbarian in D3! German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!
torturo: "Though, I'm really concerned, knowing by practice the capabilities of the balance team." top2000: "let me bend your rear for a moment exile" |

That's the only 'argument' when people throwing that kind of nonsense about reflect are being called out on it at the end :
"but it is !" *sigh* SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" heres a run down of how the last 50 builds ive made in this game think about reflect... im a direct ele/phys damage build. alch map, its got reflect, reroll the map. im a chaos dot build. alch map, its got reflect, doesnt effect me so i run it. what on earth are you talking about? reflect has literally 0 impact on thinking about a build, it has no impact on gameplay, it doesnt factor in any consideration when it comes to how much damage you have and acknowledging that or the downsides that come with it where you dont corrupt maps or use the zana map upgrade options as a result has absolutely nothing to do with any personal advantage in the game. you think the game is about having things that you are forced to avoid? thats what makes the game, not the things that you play and effect the gameplay while you are playing them, thats not the game, the game is the things you dont play and have no gameplay consequences? really? you know, if mods people literally cant play didnt exist they would be far more likely to vaal their maps, which would force them to play harder maps and they would need more defences... I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Reflect is partly why I only play summoner, totem, trap or chaos builds. The other part being I prefer them anyway!
But I do think the reflect mechanic should have a rework to leave you with a small bit of health, even if it's 1hp or something that allows you to use an instant health flask to survive? |

" I guess that's pretty much his "point". When you roll reflect on an affected build you have to reroll the map. You can't just run it anyway. It forces a reaction from you, it forces you to "think". Complete nonsense as far as I am concerned but seems like some people actually believe this bullshit for real. |
