No Fun Allowed: Reflect Maps
|
Why roll maps at all?
I have only 3 000 life and can't run extra dmg mods! It affects me and I demand them to be removed! OBEY! Oh my god, temp chains maps are so bad, and they do not provide anything, they are just annoying! I cannot run my 300% movement speed build because i have 5 unique flasks and cannot dispel curses. I demand the mod to be removed! Obey! ye, this is how you sound to me. I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age. |

" xD its a hangup. Back in the day, for a very brief moment in time reflect existed in a state where many builds could deal with it on rares etc and sometimes even the map mods, and we saw the sense in it being a dps vs mitigation check, bought into it. that lasted maybe 6 months? When we look back, did it really work? We are talking about the days of the spork totem meta and then joined by the prolif fire traps, people like baker grinding to 100 in hc using spork totems because it ignored reflect and let you go shavs low life massive dps, dont even walk in the game room as mobs, just pop a totem through the door and stand back watching the loot fall. it produced an amount of thinking about builds for sure but what it mostly did was forced self cast into a trash tier place and push serious players into a narrow build area of indirect damage sources. Or vaal pact... ahhh vaal pact, the fix all node... remember the good old days when people had to think about things for a second and then just take vaal pact like they always did? I remember when the ranger tree was first revamped, was that about 5 months in? The idea of crit attacks wasnt really a thing yet largely because of reflect but I had some decent daggers (they were utter trash but by the standards of the day...) I rolled a dual dagger ranger. Reflect did make me think about the build but what it amounted to was i played dual strike splash and then when reave was introduced I couldnt play reave, cause id kill myself on a phys reflect mob. Doublestrike splitting the hits down into more smaller hits made my armour mitigate them more, made my evasion tick over more regularly evading my own hits, was less damage so it was basically heres your options, flicker, reave, dual strike, double strike... but you can only play doublestrike because everything else isnt reflect safe. That was the thought process, reflect makes me think and brings me to the realisation that I dont have any actual choices. Im not convinced there was every really a heyday for reflect where it was a great thing that did a lot of good for the game. At its best it was as crippling when it came to options and game theory as it was a boon to them. but that period has long gone, the game just isnt balanced enough to balance reflect within it and the state of reflect is essentially a death sentence for any build with enough damage to be safe and viable in maps, even if you employ many anti reflect measures. people are clinging to something they bought into and have never properly questioned since. Theres an overall feeling, and many of us have expressed it, that the game has been too dumbed down. weve got too much damage, too much speed, powercreep has gone way too far and so anything that sounds like its breaking down yet another roadblock in powercreeps path is instantly awful. this MUST be people who dont want to make proper builds and balanced characters, who dont want to put in effort yet again trying to drag the game further down the road of clickerheros... I get it. but its blinkered and incorrect, thats not what this is about at all. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Man, if you don't roll maps you can't sustain at all. We even have Atlas and Zana quest to force and guide us to roll maps and progress. Perhaps the solution is that GGG could release a softer league without these mods? I've played since start and have never enjoyed these mods and the rippyness they add. Just want to add this: summoners pets die on phys and ele reflect. How fun would it be if weapons/spells broke for other builds? Last edited by rootvik79#3864 on Oct 1, 2019, 5:51:52 PM

" Are ppl still spewing that sort of bullshit ? It has been established in 1827 already using proper logic and arguments that reflect does not add any sort of "challenge". It simply excludes certain builds from running said maps. Now you can say that you like the fact that some builds cannot run some map mods, but to babbel about "challenge" is just laughable. I would not exactly mind build excluding mods if we really have to have them - if they were affecting everyone. Like no leech, no summons, no totems etc. Instead they try to fix that crap with notables and ascendencies. lel design fail w/e Hey op just go summoner like everyone else. Just re-roll it.
retired from forum because of censorship and discrimination
(also poe2 bad) |

" THis is not challenge, its just annoying. They can increase monster life and damage as much as they want but this reflect stuff is just BS, its just content that serves no purpose. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

" it makes you re-roll you map if your char can't handle it. maps serve the purpose of currency sink if the only reason you reroll map is a low quantity value, that's bullshit and boring " yep, it's too low now. and plenty of mitigations allow players to simply ignore it. ggg killed it and didn't replace it. offline

" My only request would be to actually re-roll a map because my char can't handle it. Not because my ascendancy can't handle it. |
|
" Atleast remove it from the zana mods we have no control over. The ones that reroll the maps with random mods and a chance to be corrupted. Exclude no regen, no leech and reflect from those please if that hasn't already been done. Last edited by kompaniet#2874 on Oct 4, 2019, 6:48:48 AM
