The arguement against auto trading is what, exactly?...

They're not advertising.

They're not selling.

You don't understand.

There's a demand for maps. There's a supply. The only thing wrong with it is that people aren't willing to pay enough to motivate people to trade. They want it for "market value" even though there's not a market for it at that value.

Pay more for maps and people will start trading them.

except they're the ones advertising that they're selling it at that price....

Either they are lousy sellers or price fixers. Any community has rotten apples that will abuse any system. At any rate, people would feel less frustration if they would only contact dedicated, premium sellers. Also, instead of going to those listed in poe trade, you could make a thread in trade fora or spam in trade channel that you want to buy maps. If you pay a good premium, people will come to you!
Just make an auction house for Currencies, Maps, Fragments, Fossils, Essences et.c. Basically everything that's cancerinducing to obtain.

Let items and actual upgrades be traded as we trade them now.

I think this is a wise compromise. As most compromises are by nature ;)
The Sirus fight is a disgrace.

It's a pretty stupid suggestion, but I guess stupid suggestions are in abundance when people have no clue how games are balanced.

The mindset of GGG on trading was best seen in Baeclast #41 by Chris. When asked about the state of softcore trade he did a facepalm followed by a feeble attempt to steer completely clear of the question. It is tiresome after all these years for GGG to keep saying "trading is complicated" and then do nothing to improve it. For far too long we've had to deal with the woefully bad trade chat whereby we must {Alt}-Tab out of PoE to our browser to find an item, and then have to copy/paste it into a command prompt to whisper that to the seller. How cryptic and bad is that? I always feel like it's from a last century game when computer games were much more crude compared to today's standards and quality level of programming. For all of us to be continually told that "we don't want trading to be TOO EASY" is a slap in the face. We should get a modern 21st century cutting edge trade function that doesn't force us to go through keyboard gymnastics to find an item to trade for or suffer the silence of 101 WTB whispers. As the quantity of players increases worldwide there are more sellers everywhere in the world thus the % chance that the seller is in a different time zone than where I am also goes up meaning the quantity of WTBs that go unanswered also increases. This just exacerbates the problem of finding an online seller for any item we are looking for. GGG has seriously done all of us a huge wrong on trade.

GGG please stop your bipolar behavior on trade: "trade is fundamental and important to playing PoE" and "trading should be hard". The fact that you want one on one player interactions is ok but then by god code us an instant message app for our cell phones that sellers can use to connect with the buyers to do the one one one trade. Having to be logged into PoE (chained to our computer) as the only way to be notified of a WTB is totally antiquated and with the majority of players "casual" it's no wonder we have such a hard time connecting with a seller. Keeping us all in the trade dark ages is the worst of the worst you can do and you lose many players over this failed part of PoE. You must fix this by patch 4.0 or risk a larger exodus of players. One would think GGG should be seeing the handwriting on the wall and code a better way to trade before it's too late but so far (as we again see in Chris' response in Baeclast) they haven't. So sad to see this from GGG.  :(
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat:

You keep trying to plug that mythical phone ap. No way in hell would I give access to my phone to this game. Na. Not going to happen.

It's never going to happen, just let the devs have their last remaining design choice.

All of their other design choices led to this. They made a game where trade is the best choice for everything and then made trade a bad experience.
there is no argument. The devs are just lazy/scared

That sounds more like the people who just want to have all the best gear, and rip through all the content.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.
