The arguement against auto trading is what, exactly?...
" That's just a denial. Trading is intentionally inconvenient, because trade makes the game too easy. Chris' words. You can argue against that, can claim it's a lie, but you can't replace that core reason. -- I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago. I know the solution!
GGG should make a centrally planned market controlled by artificial intelligence, because in each game you can afford a little bit of Communism. |

I have no problem with the current system. I kinda like it. The moment they put in an AH is the time I'll quit PoE.

"Don't do that, be like me and sit back with a shit eating grin as all the "issues" at people have with trading now (bots, price gougers/lowballers and monopolies) get even worse. |
|
" No offense but if it's automated lowballers are their own worst enemy because they'll be bought out. Bots I can agree would be a problem, price fixers not so much as there's only a finite amount of currency in the game based on how many people are generating it. And price gougers won't be bought from. |

" It has been explained seven hundred thousand times in seven hundred thousand threads by seven hundred thousand people that an automated trade market would compound the botting issues everybody's pissed off about exponentially and destroy what little equilibrium exists within the current market system. None of the people who keep posting "TRADE SUCKS!!!!1!" threads care. They will continue to bitch and moan and piss and spit and raise a ruckus until they get their automated trade market, and then they will have the sheer, infuriating gall to be surprised when it turns out botters take it over in a matter of hours (because none of them have a single bloody clue how botting actually works) and the market turns into a wasteland of hyperinflation and Unobtainium items within a week. SSF is now enforced for everybody whether they click the SSF button or not. Huzzah "progress". She/Her

Now seriously. Out of curiosity, I searched google for illegal tools/bots/mods. There are sometimes problems with buying/selling and there are a lot of people who use bots/mods to buy/sell, which makes the market prices go some times insanly high. Yes! There are mods to PoE, not to mention bots! I have seen many things available today, such as automatically flipping items from the stash box/inventory for example: chaos recipe. Modifications of textures, models, automatic lifting from the ground, etc. There is a lot of it. Inquisitive people can easily find such tools through Google....
I suspect that some of these boters/modders sell items/currency for real money on other websites. Bans are not terrible for them, they can always create new account. Also current market without something to watch over it creates a good opportunity for them to take advantage. PoE needs better protection against bots/mods and virtual machine play. However i dont know about the last one. Returning to the topic. Why not add guilds the opportunity to exchange offline items? Only within the guild. For now, you can only throw item into the guild stash and take. Why not add a way to "guild trade" without unnecessary formalities? Of course that has some flaws but i think GGG could regulate it somewhat. E.g. guild bound items? Time bound items to the guild and after 4 days you could trade item outside the guild? First week disabled trade inside guilds in new sezon? (Some loose thoughts there - dont take it seriously) In the end, there would be some profit associated with being in an active guild. Not everyone is always available and we do not constantly talk to each other about who needs what. It would be a bit easier to play in a group of people who do not have much time to play. If the whole "trade" (although in my opinion it would be more like exchange) would be in the guild does the selling and buying by bots would lose? Would some guilds be freed from the bots/illegal tools and cheaters? |

" Many of those bots/mods just reveal the flaws of PoE. Players want to use mod to change textures/effects? Get rid of shitty made particle effects, that drop FPS to single digit number! Players use bot to make chaos recipe? Get rid of that crap (that obviously benefits botters in 1-st place), and just buff chaos drop accordingly. And so on... PoE literally BEGS to be botted. Every single aspect of it cries "USE bot for me!" Sure, GGG doesnt allow bots and bans them (and i agree with their stand), but fighting bots in that environment is akin to fighting cocroaches with food & water splattered everywhere, with gazilions of unreachable holes, where they can hide and multiply in safety. Isnt it wise to clean up first, and get rid of most holes first? IGN: MortalKombat

So much back and forth, it seems like the current trading system is another time gate system implemented in a way to delay progress like everything else.
The current trading system is fine? There is near zero social interactions in it normally unless purchasing in bulk or expensive items but even then haggling is rare. I would rather just buy/sell items without needing to sit around spamming or being spammed, I would prefer not to ignore people that want to buy things but I can't spend half the game typing sold or asking if it's ok to wait a minute while I finish something. In the grand scheme of things, I think I've grown tired of the gating systems in place and more than a little irritated hearing about the social aspect to trading when it's so rare. |
