Can we please pause the game when playing alone?

I've already died 5 times on my latest char because of RL emergencies that had me go AFK on the spot.

I can see no reason why we could not have this QoL addition.
It's not exploitable, at least not any more that the logout macros, and it would simply be useful.

This is online game, what you say doesnt give sense.

Why not just open a portal real quick and leave. It literally takes 2 seconds.

If i could take 5 seconds to tp out there would be no emergency...
Sure it's no life or death things but I need to react quick if cats are throwing things off the shelves or things like that.

This is literally just a QoL improvement, telling me I should work with what is there is telling me that QoL improvements are useless...

I have always assumed that the no pause "feature" was a deliberate design decision on GGG's part to "enhance" the challenge of the game. Allowing a pause in my opinion is far more than just QOL - it opens up a whole new field of strategies. So I think that you are asking GGG to make the game easier, not just add some QOL. And exploitable always seems to be a matter of opinion, but generally it is applied to something that someone else is doing (or doing better).

(for example, pausing gives you time to identify and evaluate threats, and determine an optimal solution - and all without losing a portal)
