Can we please pause the game when playing alone?

" Golly gee, I find myself in agreement with MrsDeath on this one (we inhabit such different parts of the talent spectrum that it is almost inevitable that our interests generally clash). I have watched D3 videos where a streamer used constant pausing to navigate some very trickery situations - it was a huge help to them. I think even at my talent level that pausing would be a material help. But at the top levels (assuming it somehow did not deter them from playing), I think that pausing would be a tremendous boost. And I expect that GGG would tune the game to compensate. I remain convinced that we are not just talking QOL here. I now comment in Forums with my Xbox account:

JUST BLUR THE WHOLE SCREEN OUT so you can't see what's going on. Or just make it completely blank, same result. |

You can already pause the game if you get a Syndicate intervention on your screen.

" Actually, I did read your proffered solution and it seemed clear to me at least, that it would do little in its current form. Blurring the screen is going to hinder players to different degrees. Those with better memories will be hindered less. And a player can still flick back and forth to get a better view. So we put a cool down on it - and voila, we have another flask. Sure, you can do things to dilute the advantages, but pause would still be an advantage, and more so for some than others. I'm still not on the "it is just QOL" bandwagon. " A still screen shot you have been able to study and memorize for at least a few seconds? Sure. A screen full of moving objects suddenly going blank? Not so much. The amount of attention required to even try and pull off something like this is so high you would be exhausted after the first 10 minutes. The human brain is not wired to retain this kind of information, that's why we are easily subject to mistakes, mirages, deja-vus... we tend to fill in the blanks in our memory with guessed information. (On a side note, monkeys' brains are way more adapted to pull off this very task) But even if someone were to pull off this stunt, kudos to them! Still better than all the bots that are doing exactly the same thing without an actual human players behind the screen. |
