Will there be a new atlas every league now?
" Definitely, the last reset before the announcement of 3-month intervals really nuked my supply of red sextants, for example. Now it's a 3-month tax of 2-5 exalts if I'm to get to where I was previously (and without a current map pool). I can afford it but three months will go by, be forced to complete the whole atlas again, then buy more sextants to unshape the tiers I don't want, and then grind out a good map pool to really start chaining. Older shaped maps will be ran for a bit, then sold at a discount since people want current ones usually. " But they already lost their "ethical cred" as soon as they sold out and didn't improve core aspects of the game on the international realm (you know "useless" ones like trading, balancing etc.). It's not that simply a new player would be a "bigger source than an old-timer" for every case, it's that they simply made "old-timers" to stop supporting them financially. And in my case, they missed a lot of $$$. Sure if they got a couple hundreds of "schmucks" to throw some $ their way, and simply play a couple days and do so EVERY LEAGUE, they would have profited more than simply base themselves on a "veteran whale", but did they got that "needed support"? Since 1.3.0, I provided support & feedback coming on the forums (@#%& Reddit, that is a cancer way to listen to the "community"), heck, I even threw $$$ their way even though I wasn't entirely convinced by their decisions and actions. These days, I could hardly care less about "investing" in PoE. I'll instead buy Borderlands 3 with a pre-order (which I almost never tend to do), with all the DLC + Season pass, because that will keep me entertained better (and probably longer) than the current arcade shooter that PoE is at the moment. " That is not the worst part, as those "vanilla" maps do provide a "lite" experience for players that don't want to chase the Elder/Shaper or interact with the masters as often, due to time constraints. Sure, sextants not applying renders them less rewarding, but you can still use scarabs with them, and running them still provides current edition maps + currency + EXP. Not a bad deal, if you could store the current edition maps... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"... " Once you are as far along into the game as most are on standard doing maps without getting something like a daily, sexant, elder influence and spreading, or something like that is not as good. Yes its not GAME ENDING. But it severely affects map progression. Now in standard for the first few weeks after each new league you must spend all your time farming current league maps. And even so you will be low on most and not have many when you need for certain atlas spawns with the way they have chosen to work the masters now. This is a very VERY large disadvantage for anyone choosing to play on the standard league in ANY capacity. For anyone who plays SSF this is a crazy hard hit to them. I had some SSF characters that i intentionally made in standard so that i WOULD NOT have to worry about anything changing and i could just slowly progress as i wished which was enjoyable for me. Thats gone. Does this current state of the atlast literally "break the game" No. Does it make the game less fun and less appealing to play? Yes. In a game that is already a grind. In a game that already has an almost unparalleled amount of complexity. They take the only piece of the game where that complexity can be somewhat stabilized. And said nope. " In vino veritas :) I play SSF and these comments sum up my opinion, nicely. Playing only a few hours a week I took great pride in making steady progress through the atlas while Betrayal league was on. I soon found the temporary league not worth my time so concentrated on Standarad SSF where I have over a years worth of characters and loot collected from previous leagues. Spending many hundreds of chaos orbs and the zana 6-10 mod I built up a nice stock of red maps and started working through Shaper / Elder and picking up Zana levels. This was something I had never had the time to do before and I was making great progress completing level 15 maps before the Atlas was reset at the beginning of this month and everything was thrown into confusion for me. So now I'm left with having to grind through a lot of middle and low level maps again just to get back to where I was after investing 3 months of my time and hundreds of chaos orbs. Resetting the atlas every league will kill the game for me. It won't let me do what I want to do in SSF and I find trade leagues very unsatisfying so won't waste my time with them. GGG need to come up with a solution that does not invalidate many months of effort from casual players like me. I know streamers and high activity players might spend much more online time in the game but I doubt they spend much more on stash tabs, especially in trade leagues where you don't need to store stuff "just in case" as you can buy it in a few minutes. I wonder how long it will take until we get an ACTUAL response on this issue. I just come in here every other day to see if there has been an update to this outrageous issue, but nope. Losing more and more hope for every day for this company. Holy hell they've lost their soul... Very few companies have this soul I speak of. That soul that games such as Factorio, Grim Dawn, Risk of Rain etc has. Path of Exile once existed amongst those games, but not anymore.
Sigh... just ignoring the issues. We have so 'good' community managers indeed. I've given more than I should've in terms of money to this company. |
