I actually agreed with most of your points against khalixxa's idea of some never to be seen re-balance that magically makes the majority of builds cross viable but obviously not your perception of PvP beyond that. Again, thinking PvP in Path should somehow be this balanced fight of skill, maybe comparing it to a moba or any skill oriented PvP scenario really, is absurd. I mean there is so much Skill in PVE play right? lul. It's much closer to a card game like MTG, where the deck is the build. The plays can matter, but winning is largely dependent on a well put together deck. |

A one day event can be fun because even if the balance is horse crap ( and 3 skills are clearly dominating everything else ), it's very short so people can have some fun with something new and character progression does not matter much. This plus the fact having some low level PvP with no gear is also a completely different thing than PvP built character, with costly setups and cheezes ready to roll. Balancing the game around PvP is a whole different story, obvioufuckingsly. " I didn't mean alone, but if the game was to be balance against PvP and PvE, all balance rules would need to fit both worlds. For example, once uppon a time, there was a mmorpg called Dark Age of Camelot : - Most skills/classes had a role/place in PvP ( or RvR = Realm vs Realm ), depending on the setup of course ( solo was possible, but wasn't the main focus ) - Most classes could be also good in PvE ( I personally like DAoC's pve, quite a bit ) - Group play was heavily encouraged, not all PvE content was accessible to solo players ( it's impossible in PoE at this point, unless drastic changes happen ), but yet there was no damage immunity, there was no need for it at all ( there were a few CC immunities, or at least one, on a timer ). The balance did fit both PvE and PvP, because the game had been designed from the very start around both, both were an important part of it. This is obviously not the case at all in PoE Plain immunities are just a really cheap way to balancing I think, honestly. Chaos Innoculation might be an exception because it has a cost, it's a bit different than just having an affix on a flask and bu immune to an ailment all together. Another example or something stupid regarding immunities : I don't know if you where playing already, but flasks of warding used to not work on map mods, and the putrid cloyster was then a scary map. Now ? Just take a flask of warding and breeze through it like it's absolutely nothing ... how interesting the map was just died with this change, and it wasn't 'updated' at all after that ... I find that terrible design. Plus, Antnee paid quite a bit of money for it too I'm sure. " There are many things at the moment, and it's not getting better : - clustercrap of effects everywhere - same coloured effects everywhere when telegraphed matters ( new fairgraves Mtx sets + Catarina fight, BIG JOKE ) - GGG trying to 'force' skills synergy on players when the gem system should be all that is needed are skill gems and support gems and players can make their own synergy if the games reward them for it. For example, those ice nova and flame totem rework are just pathetic - Rampant power creep, getting worse all the time - I'm not sure whether this could fit, but there have been many half finished features added that hinder gameplay, it just feels scamped and the gameplay feels much less smooth that what it could be ( obvious GUI problems, game, best choices sometimes not encourages by the game at all @ignored some betrayal NPC choices and run away without the rewards, etc ... ) Just couple of elements that I could think of right now, it's not all of it. However, a deck of 60 cards and a PoE character ( with two or three skill as damage dealing skills, possibly 4 in PvP ? where the skill tree heavily encourages one to focus on one kind of setup on top of that .... ) are two very different things. I thought that it was easy to understand ... lol, I didn't think I'd need to resort to that level of simplification to be understood.
< lvl20 PvP and > lvl80 pvp are very different worlds. And cheezes and well rounded characters are not present in low level PvP, which is why it's potentially much more fun. By the way, why don't you understand in 'short', as something that you can't do everyday during a year ? How is that hard ? SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

ONE of us is familiar with pvp in poe. and short? i didn't realize that i couldn't just jump on a char and enter sarn arena. apparently... this involves something "long," whatever the hell that means. Yeah, I knew from the start that trying to 'discuss' anything with you was not going to lead anywhere.
You literally managed to not understand things that I literally just wrote. I really made simple points, but ... it's alright, it does not matter. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
