" I actually retracted that statement several pages back and thus apologise for the sour grapes comment. I still personally view cleave as a melee skill but acknowledge it's using a range beyond the basic weapon's arc. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" You are highly confused. Cheating is doing something outside the rules of the game. Who makes the rules of the game? The developers of course. Alt-f4 is within both the rules and the spirit of POE because the developers allow it. In D3 for example you cannot benefit from alt-f4 because the server keeps you logged in for 20 seconds, no matter what. Since POE does not have this mechanic, the developers clearly allow the use of alt-f4. You, and others may consider this cheating, but last time I looked, you are not a developer, so anything you have to say about the rules of the game are simply your opinion and not based on anything more substantial than that. For myself, I will continue to use alt-f3, because it is a valid escape and within the rules of the game. . |

" I guess it's a matter of opinion but to me escaping death by alt + f4 is lame, in fact at that point can't you just play default league? In harcore you die once but if you exit the game every time you would otherwise die doesn't it defeat the purpose? I could understand it only in the case of technical difficulties like lag or desync. |

Cleave is AoE not melee.
And Alt+F4 is only bad mannered play not cheating. Cheating would be if you write a program that scans the pointer for HP/ES via Readprocessmemory and calls the logoutfunction via fast/stdcall or terminates PoE and closes the sockets to the PoE server. But this kind of cheating is also undetectable because it doesn't modify the client. The reason D3 had such a barrier was you couldn't make a difference between a script, a keyboard marco and a regular logout. |

'Cheating' may have been the wrong word to use, but its definitely unfair play.
I constantly hear people on this forum that play on hardcore saying 'do not die', 'if you die, you suck' etc, but then they are mostly all using alt-f4 to escape death, something which I will never do because it is genuinely lame. If you actually cant avoid death without using alt-f4, then imo you should just play on default league, not on hardcore. " Your statement is both factually correct and misleading. You do get AoE melee skills. The all time classic is the D2 barbarian Whirlwind skill. This was both melee and AoE. It hit all enemies in a 360 degree arc, within the hit range of the melee weapon. Melee and AoE are not mutually exclusive. . |

If you are going to use Alt + F4, you might as well play softcore, since you are not hardcore at all.
