The guy in the video has no clue what he does he didnt kill the adds that have auras and got killed by the buffed syndicate members. This is 100% his fault for not wanting to learn or understanding game mechanics. He didnt even try to kill the totems inside first which makes engaging completly pointless because the syndicate will constantly port in and out of the fort.

Open the door of the syndicate which should even bevor the patch take you a second max, throw a frostbomb or something similar inside to kill all totems and than position yourself a bit further away to shot all the members that rush out.



Don't know if this is sarcasm.

The rare mob is only visible for a second and then half a second later Vagan does something and he's one-shot. If he walked in to kill the totems he'd have probably died the same way. By creating some distance initially and avoiding most mobs he was playing safer.

Even if he did everything wrong, you don't expect to get one-shotted with full 8.3k hp and all defensive flasks up in a one damage mod map. You also can kill the syndicate members just fine with the totems up. They only teleport back in to heal if you move too far away.

These were his defenses (and 8.3k hp). More than most would have I'd say and he is a HC player who made it to T14 so more defensive mindset than SC players. All 5 flasks were up too so he would have been shock immune.

Dont RUN IN and kill the totems, do it from afar. Melee is absolute crap right now balance wise outside of molten strike.

I guess you could say that it's in fault ... but this was a ridiculously hard hit nonetheless, and shit can happen real fast (and melee is supposed to be a thing too), so .... I would not really advocate for the dmg there, idk.

That said, it means that they seemingly didn't overdo it with the nerf, looking forward to playing it :]
Hopefully I wont get as unlucky as the player, I would not go in like that anyway I think.

That melee basicaly doesnt exist outsided of molten strike is a completly different issue but its directly tied to the one shotiness of the game in general. Syndicate just made it more obvious but usually you are either alive or dead in PoE and nothing in between because if you survived one smash the next will usually take you out anyway. This leads to a game where surviving one smash is the highest priority and every extra defense above it is basicaly meaningless. It also means that you constantly need to be topped of between smashes and melee by design have it harder to archive that.

re: melee - i played melee last league (consecrated path). i did just fine. was pretty much immortal. i suspect it's a near-perfect build vs syndicate. most of the complaints about melee seem to be from those who think a dps of millions is needed/don't make defenses good enough.

82% block should make one nearly immortal. if not, their problems are intelligence based.

Watched on 0.25x speed. Vagan's skill visuals are after the death. It's unclear what causes these things.

fact: people were one-shotted before this league.

fact: people died to glitchy/unfair/unclear/etc circumstances before this league

fact: people died to one-shot league mechanics before this league.

fact: this league's mechanics were already nerfed. and pretty massively, at that.

lolz @ "great defenses," though. AGAIN, hp =/= defense. he had a large life pool. defenses weren't bad, but weren't great. i don't understand why he'd use a kaom's over a loreweave, if he was looking for phys->ele conversion. it would be akin to running all 3 purities, while freeing up mana res for something else. personal preference comes into this, though. that's not going into the questionable flask choices, either. **

** took a closer look. defenses were actually kind of meh. 2 purities and acrobatics and that's it. virtually no armor/eva, 0 block, flasks were offensive/movement aside from 1 basalt. i don't understand why he didn't try to stack more dodge and conversion.

if anything, this is a testament to the player's skill to even make it that far without dying.
