Diablo 3 have free Legendary item trade though, you just need to be in the group where the item dropped and you're free to trade it for two hours. Yellow, blue and white items are unrestricted. Blizzard's idea of self-found makes a mockery of the name.

Blizzard doesn't call it SSF though

They removed the auction house, forbade trading, appeased to the cries for Self-Found on the forums by making all loot BoA [bound on account] and even wrote as their manifesto, called "design philosophy" (which I have no intention to Google, do it yourself) that this change is because they feel it's more fun to find your own loot and introduced features(for example Kadala) to negate the loss trading had on loot acquisition.

That they allowed the moronic "Free to trade for two hours" to prevent mass exodus from co-op doesn't change the fact that Diablo 3 turned self found.

GGG should just rename it to party snowflake self found since the only reason people want it is for leaderboards so they can get their precious recognition without having to actually work hard like real SSF.

I have no idea how big / small the group I fall into is, but I would definitely play some sort of group / party / guild / friendlist 'ssf' variant.

While I've tried SSF a little bit, knowing that I can't play with my buddies if they wanted to always makes me just migrate back to the trade league.

If we however got some sort of SSF where you can't trade with anyone that wasn't in the game when the item dropped, but you can play in a party still might be super fun.

And I doubt it would negatively impact pure SSF / trade league players.

yeah it was a kneejerk solution to a massive problem. I'm not sure what the optimal solution is as it's too hard to find or craft build defining items in POE SSF.

Or, you can accept that some people would actually like to play with each other, without the gamebreaking hell we call trading.
