for everyone who wants a challange
" You argument saying it will limit build diversity make no sens at all. Personnally I think its going to be totally the oposite, people will try more build because they wont fear the drawback of failing(especially if they try a crappy skill or are learning the game) Because in the end if they can't learn from their death , the xp penalty wont help them more understand and just turn them off because no one love to lose progression. And honestly I think xp death is really a problem past lvl 90 because of the crappy mapping system/progression were you get to a point that dying mean your losing more time in term of progression than actually what you gain from playing. |

Here is what will happen.
Above level 90 when the exp penalty actually matters mind you. People will start spamming rangers and taking only damage nodes/items. Eventually the damage will be so high they wont need anymore, then they'll start putting quantity/rarity gear on. And which class has the best options to farm>? Thats right, its rangers again. So in the end rangers will be the best choice for magic find and the best choice to level with. More than 50% of the 90+ folks will be playing some ranger ascendancy thus it will be necessary for all of them to get heavily nerfed, the bows will probably be completely reworked too because of how easy it is to kill several screens with them. Heavy nerfs, gameplay changes, plenty of people who'll reach high level without much of an issue and leave the game and for what, so a few guys will have more fun time leveling? |

" Again what you are saying is all speculation of a future that have yet to happen And for your ranger example... what actually stop you to do that right now? I mena people that reach 100 only run a low level map non stop with a meta farming build .... ? death pen or not this wont change. We are still limited by a number of portal in a map, you can't infinitely try the content even if you die ? Anyway I think removing the death penalty also could open door into making boss harder and more challenging/rewarding Last edited by ffogell#6809 on Sep 26, 2018, 8:33:05 AM

" They are still getting just enough survivability and optimizing the whole thing to have the right balance, and the top players that were taken as examples know exactly what they are doing. Saying that portals are actually limiting is clearly lacking endgame experience, or just dying way too often/picking way too much useless crap on the floor. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

While I agree that dying to some ridiculous combination of map and monster mobs and losing that 10% is frustrating, I have to disagree with the idea of removing it because there has to be SOME sense of danger, loss on failure, and accomplishment when it is overcome.
Yes, dying because of a lag spike is terrible, and we have all felt that pain, but we signed up to play a persistent online game and this is a fundamental risk involved in that paradigm. It is unavoidable and the sooner you get over it, the sooner you can enjoy playing again. My first 90 this league died literally only several kills from hitting 90. Was I apoplectic. Damn right I was. But once I took it out on my children I was fine, went back to playing and got that level. |

As long as there is insta log out, if we dont count one-shotted situations there is also no real challenge in HC .

" Dunno if this is a language barrier, but are you really meaning what you are saying as like : take it out on (someone or something) To punish or mistreat someone or something as a means of expressing or giving vent to a strong, typically negative, emotion, such as anger or aggression You know that is why I'm not a fan of the death penalty because often I die because of stuff I can't control or fail to see(because my screen is filled with rainbow) Unlike you I dont vent it out on my childrens, I just stop playing :P lmao |

" Always love it when people who don't play hardcore throw that kind of thing haha. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

so basically what youre talking about i mentioned before allready
if players want get punished go play hardcore all i say is that deathpenalty just downgrades my fun for the game ive never played games with such a penalty i heard FF11 had backwards leveling ... black desert has -3% and even that hurts as hell and keeped me always away from these games ... btw only because people would zerg down everything with rangers without any defenses we need the death penalty?? lol as if they dont do it right now ... so those who are against the remove of the death penalty you feel happy when you lose exp right? you feel totally motivated to proceed like nothing happend right?? and again my critique against death penalty doesnt have anything to do with my current and previous characters get that in your mind btw a one shot is a one shot doesnt matter if you have defenses and i dont even complained about my arc totem hierophant he is quite tanky "There are Penalties in the Game, no one's complaining about them"
