Hardmode / Veteranmode

Serious HC players already play HC, and already reach the highest levels, even SSF.
And they do it every league pretty much.

People blaming the game for their death are mostly (there are some rare cases alright) not accepting the fact that they messed up somewhere, period.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
If you want it to be harder, play SSF, play HC, make up your own builds instead of following guides with mirror-tier equipment, and/or don't reroll maps when they get difficult mods. There are so many ways of making the game harder already.
"Cut off one of your arms, that'll make the game harder".

Majority of PoE players don't want to have the slightest bit of challenge. They want PoE to turn into an idle game (which it nearly is by now). Pretty much the last semblance of difficulty is exp loss; and I firmly believe that there'll come a day when exp loss on death will be "reworked" too.

What PoE was will never come back. If anything, it'll only get further away. If you're looking for a hard/challenging/rewarding game, then PoE is no longer something you should consider.

or or.. here me out here..

They balance the death penalty at higher levels , tone down the multipliers for damage for players, and make end game content we have to engage with.
Then they can fix armor/eva/es to deal with the monster damage.

If the only difficult thing is the penalty then the game needs to adapt and challenge us in fun ways not discourage us to not play.

I guess people who just copy paste x00k / x000k dps builds and destroy everything without much thinking have little to no clue how defenses actually work in this game.
Like you know .... people playing arc trappers this league haha ( most of them at least ).

Bah, PoE still can be made challenging, due to all non-meta skills/items/mechanics and interactions that are "forgotten" by both TencentGGG and most players. Not to mention that having all content "tuned" for those "opie-op" players helps.

And the death EXP penalty should be reworked, as long as it's a way to make it more "fair" through the whole journey from 1 to 100.

That they could adjust the current damage levels on both sides and that would automatically resolve a lot of problems is incontestable.

That they could encourage players to improve themselves and always tackle the most difficult content the game throws their way should be a priority.

That they could actually interlink danger/reward ratios to grant everyone enjoyment should never come as a surprise.

But will they "see the light" and actually do all the above???

That is the billion $$$ question, and sadly the response seems to go the wrong way...
PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days...

It's already pretty much this way.
Well, one needs to understands how the RNG in the games works to understand that of course.

Dare I say they're doing it in an insufficient way???

Danger and reward ratios are too skewed toward rewards, and we both know that they could and should grant the "best" stuff from those difficult enemies:

Why divination cards that grant "the best outcomes" aren't mandating an "epic" fight? Why do the Diviner's boxes don't follow that "common sense" suggestion"? Why aren't rares from bosses at least more "meaningful" than those dropped by white monsters? (although you mentioned they started to "see the light" at least in this aspect, so one could still hope for a solution).

I don't mean that they should automatically move all the best rewards towards the difficult encounters, but they could at least provide the "difficult" ones with outcomes on the size of the difficulty - one could argue that all content is @#$$ easy these days so that's why rewards are as ^&*|, but why not address that???

The danger/reward ratios should be improved by huge amounts, as the current status is unsatisfactory, even with all the RNG took into consideration. RNG should enhance the experience, not simply be used as the "scape goat" when the right questions mandate fair answers...

I do want to copy paste the exact same answer as before, honestly, as it's a perfect fit.

Some quick examples though :
- Maps with 8 mods drop significantly more stuff than low rolls rare maps, as well as ghosted monsters compared to normal ones, etc ....
- Izaro is a loot pinaty itself too ( that you can buff through other ways ), and it's riskier than "normal" content in many ways.
- you need to fight bosses with a certain rarity tier on maps to unlock their atlas bonus
- you need to fight empowered bosses to get upgrade pantheon powers
- you need to fight bosses with a certain rarity tier on maps to get a shaper orb
- there is a 20% chance for any boss to drop an additional map and that they are the only monsters that can drop t+2 maps.

Most of the rest is ..... RNG.
Like the rest of the game is.

So pretty much same answer : RNG is RNG.
And I have a feeling that as long as there would be RNG involved like this, you ( and other people that have a problem with it ) would not like it.
