i would look past the game, if we were talking about anything beyond the game. but that is what this is, and this is what the forum is about - the game.

i get that you're a different personality type and we think differently. i can absolutely appreciate that and your vision is great - but applying your vision and philosophical outlook and such on........just a video game...is ridiculous to me.

im sure we play this game for different reasons as well. its okay, we don't need to see eye to eye and its probably better if we don't. but you're trying to give your point of view and im just trying to share mine.

mine is clear. its just a video game. i don't care about how it connects to the rest of the world etc - i play this game to escape those things for a couple of hours, so i can take a break from all those thoughts and concerns.

It's all connected, though. Everything is. Mostly it just hums along but sometimes it really does a person's head in.

The radical shift from Indie NZ studio to owned by this, aside from concerns of bottom dollar mass market garbage in our game:

If you're not thinking about this, then fine. But to call it just a video game, that's missing the point of why people are reacting.

There is some dark shit out there, and social credit scores and all aside - megacorps are cancer killing the world, because no business costs environmental impact into their costs. Can it be cured? Maybe. maybe in a way we don't see yet as a possibility. Who knows.

Sure, some of it's very much personal "don't mess with my game" distrust, and I feel that way too. But not all of it. And I feel that way also.

-edit: yeah I see you're saying it's your point of view. It's just a game. I think the word "ridiculous" for how someone had a different reaction kinda got to me as I am in the "reacting to this with lots of stuff" camp.

nope. at least not solely. but in a time around 2012 when the market has been full of pay to win shit and subscription based games they were the only ones saying: well, here is a game that has no pay to win and is free to play, you may leave us some bucks if you liked playing it.

they hit a nerve and many jumped in, giving them millions before release just for an idea of a game.

it's all been well until they gave in to casualisation. real fans support an idea they like. casuals don't.

introducing instanced loot and not implementing an item sink killed the game.

I get this xMustard, I really do. I'm passionate about it because it's spreading like wildfire. I'm getting a bit older now, been through some shit good and bad. Have a kid a family and am looking toward the future. Having seen life before it was like this to where it is now in my short time span is a little unsettling. I get defensive or often start that way due to how people communicate now, I get angry when people make allowances for it, or shrug it off as a non issue. I'm only human. I think we deserve better and yet somehow exactly what we receive as we've made this bed through either apathy or self doubt.

I'm sorry to all of you I may have offended except for Mr. Virtue signals and Mr. Everybody reposts facebook shit.

I can't buy a Lamborghini, because I can't "give" money to a billion dollar megacorp like VW. They even got Hitler funding in the thirties.
