People are overreacting
" I can dance all day. Please provide evidence. Links. Quotes. And let us be done here. What was Tencent's role in this? And how did these games get destroyed. Or do you want to dance even more? I guess the latter. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" You need a hobby. I have to go to work now, so enjoy your own company. When righteousness falters And chaos threatens to prevail I take on a physical body And manifest myself on earth. Last edited by Thermoluminescence#5229 on May 21, 2018, 10:33:26 AM

" I think we have a case of correlation does not equal causation here. Some people obviously think that the games listed have been going downhill for some time. These games were also acquired by Tencent. Ergo: Tencent is the culprit. I don't have anything to back up that Tencent was the cause or not - hell, I don't even know the games that were listed neither if they've really been going downhill. However, it'd probably be hard to find any official statement by an employee of one of those games saying "Tencent made us do it." because not only might that result in that person losing their job, said person might afterwards also be sued for divulging business secrets. The strongest argument so far made for Tencent is kuciol's repeated affirmation that Tencent only meddles with stuff on the CHinese/ Asian market and left western games alone. However, looking at the Chinese market might have given people an impression of what might happen should Tencent ever decide that they now have a big enough market share in western games to rethink that stance. Moreover, since Tencent seems to be just another company (i.e. trying to maximize profits), it's safe to assume that they didn't acquire a huge share of GGG to save them from takeover by other "evil corporations", but that they want a ROI. This means, that even if PoE was to be left alone, by supporting PoE you are actively supporting a company that seems to be known for shady business models - although not (yet?) on the western market. And now we have the messy situation where not supporting GGG might accelerate a development many of us fear, yet further supporting them means that money goes to a multi-bn $ company we'd rather not support. " Hahahah, you're pathetic. Just leave - it's beyond embarrassing now. |

" while im not touching on what you guys are talking about, i just want to point out that this argument is dumb - correlation does not equal causation. its invalid and doesn't mean anything because you can't prove it either way. also you can't have causation without correlation |

" And we all "know" all of this. What I was hinting at, is that making doomsday prophecies isn't helping anyone, especially not PoE. I never viewed my support as supporting GGG, and I will not view it as supporting Tencent either; I will view it as supporting PoE. I stand very indifferent whether or not the surplus ends up in Chris' pocket or in Martin Lau's, Liu Chi-ping's or Chi Ping Lau's pockets. As long as PoE remains a good game, I will support IT (there's no "them"). I don't support because of politics. Or economics. Or world peace or whatever. Hell, most of my clothes are "made in China", I guess. My phone. My computer. Whatever. So if it's "China" people are worried about, or what Tencent do in China - there's a LOT of hypocrisy in here. " Good on you. Some of us have other views. And while it's rather hard to find clothes, electronics etc., that were not made in China (I think many clothes come from Bangladesh, though) and some of these things are deemed necessary, not playing PoE anymore (or at least not spending any money on it anymore) is rather easy. " The thing is there are some companies closed by tencent, employees of those studios werent obligated to keep their mouths shut so if this was tencent work that should go out right? There surely are some unhappy ex-employees out there but i couldnt find a single instance of that being the case. So im safe to assume such thing didnt happen right? I dont care what they might do. I cant know that, nobody cant. Hell even independent GGG might have decided to go full EA on us. As of now tencent doesnt want to meddle with our market simply because they dont understand it, its vastly different than chinese. They even like p2w out there, this sentence alone is beyond our imagination. Thats why they buy only companies with some success on western market and just collect the money. As of now nothing indicates that this will change. I dont really care who owns what. I care only if i have fun, when i wont have fun anymore i will leave and find something else to do. In the end its just a game. |
