" Forums are truly hilarious, he did show it at time I said, if ilvl 36 goes to higher uniques like cloak and icetomb then of course it can go even higher. Anyway I posted screenshot of my test too and it does ignore ilvl. |

" you didnt read my initial post, yet again. We know it can spawn slightly higher req lvl items on low level uniques. In the first video in this thread lighty shows an ilvl2 lioneyes shield being turned into a req lvl30something titicus and then a req lvl15 lyco. Like lighty said in the video, we cant fully explain this behaviour, but on low level unqiues there seems to be a certain level of give and take where an ilvl34 can spawn a req lvl39, thats all in the video in the original post, thats all in the post I made that you initially quoted if you actually go back and read it. But that ilvl34 chest never became a req lvl61+ chest did it? He used a ton of ancient orbs on it and it never, ever became a high level chest, it never became any of the common chests more than a small amount of levels above the base ilvl he started with. A cherns pillar tower shield is the next possible unique item in the lyco, titi 4 square tall shield series. Its req lvl61, and just like that chest never became a req lvl61 chest, the shield will not become a req lvl61 shield, so it has nowhere else to go but from a titi to a lyco and back again. The ilvl vs req level becomes very strict over ilvl60, a lyco was not worth much in harbinger, a guy in my guild in hc harb where the lyco still had value was mass producing them using the low level titis, but what we were mainly doing in the sc league was going for the tukohamas fortress. Now if I remember rightly thats somewhere in the 60s, but lower than a lioneyes shield. So you could, with certainty, pick a shield base like a titi or a cherns that was lower than a lioneyes but equal to or above the tuko and keep ancient orbing it, the only possible outcomes were a titi, a cherns, a lyco or a tukohama. Most of the time it flicked between titi and cherns, but hitting a lyco provided a small return and hitting the tukohama was the big payout. We were doing this in harbinger, you cannot tell me these orbs are not working now the same way they worked in harb because I know for a fact that they are providing the exact same results, consistently, that everyone in my guild witnessed ever since they were introduced. Including lower level uniques having a bit of give on the req level but then becoming extremely tight by the time you are using endgame level items. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I was NOT going to come back to this discussion OR this forum but, I have to clarify my position on this issue.
TL;DR - I don't care if the mechanic is intended or not. I care that people kept the information instead of sharing it, using newer players ignorance to make tons of currency at their expense. Proof that the POE community is as shitty as this league. First of all, I could care less if ancient orbs are working as intended or not. My problem is that the wiki and the way this mechanic works has a HUGE disconnect and it is unfair to fairly new players (such as myself) that did NOT know about this. IN FACT this is only like the 5th post I made on these forums so there is NO WAY I could have known. If I had I would have spent more on ancient orbs to roll an Item level 40 unique belt, in a nemesis mod for headhunter since it can only get a small handful of outcomes. I tried it once for shits and giggles but, it failed and because the wiki stated it was not bound by item level I figured it was a waste since the chances were dismal at best. Now my BIGGEST issue is that instead of fixing the wiki or letting people know, the information was kept within a select few people with the correct information. Now those SAME people are whining that their money making method is broken because people are wise now and, selling ancient orbs and low ilvl titucus for what it is actually worth. People with the knowledge were/are taking advantage of people who had/have NO IDEA what they had/have. Now those same people are pissed because people are wise to their game. New players were basically scammed because there was NO WAY to find out the true information aside from trial and error. I made this post so the information is in more place than just 1 random video on youtube. Now people will sell low lvl titucus for the price IT IS WORTH. This league, you need level 8 zana (or a good sextant roll) to even farm ancient orbs and, NO ONE (trying to grind for gear) would spend 20c a pop just to experiment unless they found a bisco's early on ESPECIALLY if the wiki (where new players are told to get information) is 100% wrong. I don't care if it is a legit game mechanic or not, keeping the information to yourself to make tons of currency at the expense of the "newer people" is nothing short of criminal in my eyes. This just proves how rotten a community POE actually has. This game has a shitty community and it is noted. I have seen better communities on a pig farm. Great way to welcome new people into the game people. brilliant.. EDIT: I want to share something, wanna farm some currency? Normal lab is now profitable because titucus is a common drop there and low enough Ilvl to sell for roughly 60c... I COULD have kept this information to myself.. " This issue at least is resolved. I think it's great that you posted this video here. It's also great that Lighty did not keep it to himself. Don't let parts of the community deter you. There are actually some decent people around. Doing this with Flasks might be profitable, too. Although chances are not as good, you could hit a Taste of Hate or Zerphi's, both of which are valuable, and some 4 or 5 flasks which are not. " Yeah, here is the thing.. First impressions are a bitch. This is literally my first experience with POE community and it has left a bitter taste in my mouth. |

Well, yes, there are a lot of scammers and abusers around and the lack of an official official [sic!] Wiki has been annoying me for years now.

It seems you are right Snorkle, I used 93 ancient orbs in stnd on ilvl 40 belt, and for some reason it can roll soul tether which is level 48 but didn't roll any other above level 40 uniques. Maybe I didn't use enough orbs.
There are more unique belts between ilvl 40 and soul tether I would get them at least once in 93 orbs I guess. I have no idea why it rolls soul tether. |

" some thoughts about not losing sleep over ultimately insignificant issues...
Spoiler
Youre pissed that people use game knowledge to gain an advantage, mate that is the entire point of the economy side of the game. This entire games history is a long list of people doing stuff that is not in the public eye to make loads of xp/items/currency. You know what happens if they tell everyone? the market adjusts and there is no net gain for the community. You think the people selling ancient orbs now get more money for their orbs now the secret is out? Yes they do, a bonus for them. What about the people buying ancient orbs? Now they have to pay triple what they would have had to pay if the secret stayed guarded. For everyone who benefits from the adjustment there is someone who loses, X costs more now, great for the sellers, bad for the buyers, there is as big a negative effect on the community who didnt know as there is a positive. The idea that theres a net gain for the community is actually a falsehood. You have to learn to let jealousy go with this game mate, esp if ur a newcomer. Trust me when I say that what you see here isnt even the tip of the iceberg, its a drop in the ocean. You think we all got super rich at everyones expense? What we took from the economy was trivial. I could tell you exactly what I made and how long it took me to make it, and you would probably think it obscene. But only because you do not see the bigger picture, youre still not aware that theres 100s upon 100s of people in organised guilds making so much more money than I made every league doing all manner of things you have no idea about. People who are worth 100x what I am worth in this game, 1000x what I am worth. Imagine this is the real world, youre working 9 to 5 and earning £50,000 a year. Suddenly you find out theres people working from home, doing 3 hours work a day and theyre earning £400,000 a year. Thats the situation you are in right now, and youre outraged. But what you dont see is the people who are worth £100,000,000, the people who own private jets that their private pilots land on their private islands, the people making £400,000 a month while sitting in 1 of their 10 mansions while their stable of servants bring them wines that are worth £30,000 a bottle. What you are upset about is nothing compared to the things you dont even know are going on, if you could see the bigger picture, how insignificant all the stuff in this thread really is, you would just laugh. You would do what you do in the real world, you wouldnt waste any time caring about these people and what they do, you would just care about your own situation, your friends, ppl close to you, the community you live in, you interact with every day and you would be happy. Somewhere in the last week some guy in your country won the lottery and he is now swimming in money, does that make you sad? Does that ruin your day? Its all just pixels mate. If someone whos supposed to be your friend in game fucks you over, care about it, when it comes to people you dont know doing things you dont know making this that or the other thing... who cares? Just accept this game is vast, theres a whole world in here and stuff happens, dont lose sleep over it my man it isnt worth it. " lighty was told about it by my guild leader, and told about it with strict instructions to spread it through youtube and reddit to intentionally destroy it. This was not done out of charity, this was done to destroy it for reasons of internal guild politics between my guild leader and the rest of us, hence why he is now my ex guild leader. This was a spiteful and petty act, not some robin hood action by a champion of the underclass. " yep, there are a few strange anomalies in the way it works that I cant explain with hard math. All i can see is that an ilvl2 shield can still become a req lvl30, and ilvl30 item can still become something like an req lvl40, and by the time you get to ilvl60 there is no give at all, I have never seen an ilvl60+ unique move up a single rq lvl when orbing them. Is that the pattern? Does that space for it to go higher steadily drop as the item level rises? Is this intentional design? Maybe the idea that someone whos lvl15 suddenly creating a lvl30 item while leveling in harbinger would very quickly be high enough to use that item, but the higher they get the longer it takes to get the next xp level, hence the lower the gap, and by the time we get to endgame items there is strict ilvl v reqlvl control allowing for more precision use of the orbs once you catch on to the mechanic? I cant tell you, we have no information from GGG about how the orb is supposed to work beyond it turning 1 unique into another of the same slot. All we can do beyond that is observe how it does work and this is the behaviour that we can see. The slot size restriction makes total sense because say you had the item in a full inventory and it suddenly became too big for the space... how does that work? the size restrictions become immediately obvious when you think about it. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :) Last edited by Snorkle_uk#0761 on Mar 23, 2018, 2:34:53 PM

" You "kids"... back in my day we didn't have the luxury of in depth wikis. Reality check - people are rude and obnoxious everywhere. If you think people are lousy because they knew more about crafting... God forbid you ever touch a first person shooter. Or play anything on a console. Yep, totally over league play.
