Yo fuck this density nerf.

it is the correct topic. i just skipped the excuses and attacked the main issue: maps are less rewarding now

how many ever used vaal brach to kill mobs? none? right. because some of you claim killing mobs is fun. but they do not drop loot/xp.. oh.. so it is not about fun but about rewards in the end

so just skip the deception and attavk the rewards.

note: maps like residence and palace are STILL broken. agreed. but situayion in 2.6 was unsustainable. some maps were already so crowded that it looked simply STUPUD

how do you expect to sustain the game where players are motivated ONLY with rewards? iy does not work for long. it is better to get rid of such motivation (with players if necessary) to keep the game healthy long term

2.4->2.5->2.6 was unsustainable. no chance to feed players more rewards at that pace. in 2.8 players would not play without real dollars being dropped. it was going to reach this point of entitlement and expected 'rewards' really really quickly

nerfing it (slightly. be real. it is not an end of the world) is called 'managing expectations'. playerbase cannot expect to get everything because once the chase is over there is nothing left. this game is not about skill after all but abouy relative and absolute wealth. you cannot rain wealth freely for too long if you want to keep people playing

Silly boy, that is how it is in 99% of the games and the majority of life. People are motivated by extrinsic motivation (surprise surprise). Why do you think MMORPGS always release new sets and new features? There is no such thing as ''managing expectations'', all they did is forced folks to go meta, equip a bisco and go yolo on maps.Forget about mods, just get huge monster quantity and ignore boss.

So all of your points are atlas related, map expansion or tuning the atlas, which in my opinion should be near the top of the list for what they're going to do next. So everything is good.
You also pointed changes that only adress half the problem. This all stems from density being too high, why go for the finicky changes like reducing iir iiq and then nerfing the flasks and changing rampage, instead of simply changing whatever makes everything too good(the density).

Well honestly they could have just taken away a lot of the drops from trash mobs and actually increased the density, but the thing is, this option works too. It doesn't actually matters much because after all you would end up killing for the same amount of items, the question would just be how many you kill. Higher Density makes it more intense but also harder, exspecially for melees. Low Density is a huge benefit for melees, but it kinda takes the intensity out of things, because killing more enemies is usually more fun.

Still dont agree with the bolded part.

Killing stuff is fun.
To kill stuff you need density.
So nerfing density is nerfing fun.
Thats why its a stupid approach.

I do agree, that adjusting all points I did mention would be way more work to do than just grabbing the nerf hammer and be done with it.
From a business perspective thats a valid approach just for the saved efforts.
From a marketing perspective thats a catastrophe, next to impossible to sell to the target audience without providing any information about why they did what they did or providing a perspective of future goals/features/whatever.
That would actually allow the playerbase to get behind those changes, support them and suffer through the transition phase.

GGG failed to provide that sort of information so far.

Which means neither you nor me know the so called "Bigger picture".
There is no bigger picture right now and everyone is just speculating why GGG did what they did or whats coming next based on their own wishful thinking. Thats bad.
Thats not how you convince someone to invest into your company or buy your product.

you want killing mobs because it is 'fun'? i doubt. you want to kill mobs because they give loot. you want loot because tlit is valuable. you want valuable because it makes you feel better

nearly every person here has said its less fun with less density, i feel the same way you really think were all lying? if they want to tone down drops get rid of fucking biscos.

Neah, some of us "real" melee players don't notice such a difference, and it also encourages the single target namelocking melee skills a bit.

Yeah, I'm conscious that we're a "dying breed going the way of DoDo", but the density change should have been addressed no less, ideally by nerfing sextants, and certain drop rates so you would actually got a similar situation...

And his point regarding the run of Vaal Breach still stands. If you feel like you're needing additional enemies you're welcomed to run that next to the map content to "fill the screen".

Unfortunately the player base got so used to "more @#*^" = "better experience", that there seems the next attempts at real balance will cause uproars. Just because...

And I also find it funny that most of the players "bribed" by the "Labyrinth adjustments" are finding that content "great" now.

Sad day indeed... >.<
PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days...

The vaal breach argument is literally one of the dumbest things I've heard you say this whole topic, and that says something. People want maps to feel lively, and not walk around for 30 seconds with nothing in sight, how hard is that to understand?

Shaped reef and shaped Pier feel like ghost cities. Whirl whirl whirl small pack no rares and whirl whirl whirl whirl some more to find another white pack made of 5 white mobs. And im talking about 30%+ packsize. Its a pure disgrace. Better make those maps low tier like t1 or t2 if people should not run those evil linear or circular maps. And its not like they buffed mao layouts like plaza or maze they are shitty as always.

Although a nerf was required this change took a giant portion of action from action rpg. Those maps feel unfun and not worth being red maps anymore.

Yeah, they feel like Phantasmagoria. The worst linear map ever!

That one foo said vaal breach to make things more lively what the fuck is that dude.

I was under the impression that Atlas was created so that players can fine tune their mapping experience, run map's that each person enjoyed the most, skip maps that were on the low end of fun, not all map's layout are agreeable with everyone.

So, the news came down on the nerf meta strand and the wagons were pulled in a circle with so many posters calling for it to be gone. That part had me scratching my head for a long time. Now maps that I and apparently quite a few others liked are barren, my playing partner and myself ran a map the other night that was literally a ghost town, where's the fun in that?

They should revert the Atlas back to the original form and pack density be back to norm. The attempt to slow down the runners to reach 100 didn't work, it only caused grief on the average player. If I wanted to run a maze I would rather do labs, Just my 2 cents.

Did this guy literally just argue that we aren't suppose to enjoy the entire fucking point of an Action RPG?

Holy fucking shit. This is the most asinine comment I've ever heard.
