Nazibanners in 3.0! Why?

Fuck Nazis for ruining my culture's history by plaguing the world with their false symbolism. The amount of hate I received as a child because of this ignorance pisses me off.

The Swastika was stolen from Hindu culture. The Swastik which represents the power of luck and Surya (sunlight) is a powerful symbol of POSITIVITY in my religion and is seen as one of the primary symbols of Ganesha.

You want to be offened? Be offended that Nazi's and their shitty hate rhetoric has marred a beautiful religious symbol an ancient religion. Don't be offended by some pseudo-resemblance of that emblem in some video game.
^I thought the angles where in the other direction in hindu culture.

Opposing natural motion. Guess i was mistaken, but still doesn't detract from my initial point.

Swastika is a universal symbol that predates the nazi regime by a fair margin of time.
Anybody offended by stuff like this should use that energy to feel offended by stuff that's relevant in our time, not some past history we can't do anything about.

Hell if the swastika offends you, why doesn't the cross offend you? In therms of symbolism it represents the four corners of the world united in one similarly to swastika's.

All i see is ignorance leading to intolerance in this OP.
Guess what gave rise to the issue your taking offense to now?

Peace,

@OP

I don't really see a problem here. Banners like these are common through out our history, just one example are similar Roman Empire banners. These banners are not even close to resemblance to swastika symbols used by Nazi Germany.
people get offended by everything these days...
I dont see any any key!

The OP didn´t mention the swastika with a single word though. Whether you like it or not, a black symbol in a white circle on a red flag is a clear reference to the Nazi regime and is blatantly meant to be just that here in PoE.

Yeah feeling offended is kinda silly I agree. To me it´s an unfortunate immersion breaker in an otherwhise nicely crafted fantasy world. It´s out of place much like an abstracted version of the McDonald´s sign or the Coca Cola logo would be.

It´s lazy and it´s not introducing the oriathans properly into the game. It´s basically a cameo that lasts for half an act.

And it didn´t make me feel like "the good guy" for half a second after slaughtering frightened civilians in the streets.
Though it probably wasn´t supposed to do that. Just pointing it out to the "killing nazis is fun" guys.
It can be fun if you´re a Wolfenstein game or Commandos, but in PoE it´s just like, "wtf are they doing here?".

I think the idea is to insight the feeling like you are erradicting a perverted regime. The symbolic ties are probably intentional...not to offend anyone, but rather give people a sense of relief once they destroy this regime for the people of oriath.

Don´t get me wrong. I know what it means to do. I just think it´s the wrong tool to instill the "breaking the terrible regime" feeling in this case.

just this, ppl are trying way to hard to find Nazis or just plain old Racism everywhere.

wanna know something funny?

ppl that try as hard as the OP to see nazis/racism everywhere are always suspicions for me.
They are just trying to hard to not look like a Nazi while all they do is thinking about Nazistuff.

i´m not saying in any way that Nazis are ok nor am i defending their belives,
what i´m saying is:

Nazis/Racists of any kind are a Problem and should be fought, but seeing racism everwhere is a serious Problem as well and ppl should start paying more attention to that.

Here is the thing though, they could have made the banners blue and the people easily offended that react now would still feel offended.

And if they are not offended by this, they would hop onto the next thing to feel offended about.

Taking offense to things that are not worth the emotion is a pure waste of energy and a hobby of some.

"you can't do right for all people" comes to mind.

It's a trope, and it's utilized in a very blatant and obvious manner. That's just "marketing" in the game environment to create an obvious response from it's player-base.

Some people might call it lazy, but it's an obvious approach to take in this situation when creating a game that's played globally.

PoE has always had a pretty heavy aesthetic influence from ancient Rome. The Eternal Empire has always been VERY "ancient-Rome-ish". The soldiers, and symbols used by the Templars, including the two headed Eagle, and other aesthetics and symbols that were taken by NAZIs in the 1930s are more likely used in POE for their Roman Imperial connotations. That said, the people using the symbolism that OP is so offended by are THE BAD GUYS. Even if OP cannot get past the Nazi-ish appearance, hopefully they can take solace in the fact that YOU ARE KILLING NAZIS essentially.

Not to mention that we have been over this again and again and again over and over and over, ever since the concept art was first teased.

I'm so glad that GGG stuck to their guns, and stood by their "ooooo sooooo controversial" aesthetic decision.
U MAD?
