Nazibanners in 3.0! Why?
" of course you're right, what really disturbs me is them falling back to the common stereotypes.

it's lazy and dangerous at the same type, thanks to german enforced austerity (starvation of the common folks) fascisms are on their march to rise in europe once again, france has a strong right wing movement, hungary is far right, poland slowly drifts into absolutism after getting rid of their high court, germany has a right wing party sitting in many local governments which is bigger than the far left party.
i'm not saying we're back to 1933 yet but people just do the mistake of just looking for a hitler or nazi uniforms while fascism comes with no such signs. it's simply unequal treatment of different folks, if laws aren't equally applicable to everyone. if you got no choice in elections anymore. eh, i better stop here age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Unironically caring about this in either direction is dumb.
Either way, the only problem with the whole symbolism is how useless it is. It would have fitted better in Act 3 with Piety and the Lunaris Temple, but in Act 5 is completely out of place. You have a slave rebellion more reminiscent of colonial conflicts more than anything, Oriath doesn't feel really that nazi like. It's some advanced narm ("God and the Church are nazis!", "BDSM Nazis!"). You could change it and nothing of value would be lost. It's like two or three tilesets with the symbology. Anyone actually interested in WW2, its players and the events, should also read on history of the involved factions prior to the war. The nazis became basically the boogeyman for everything evil but you won't see many historical facts and explanations in modern media and education regarding the whole conflict. Things aren't black and white, and even PoE shows that by making player change sides and witness the horrors perpetuated by all bands upon each other while claiming moral superiority.

I would have stuck to the evil church theme, with the non overt nazi references (yes, even including Lunaris). The banners are just tacky.
Trying to make Oriath equivalent to England is a ship that sailed long ago. There is no aesthetic elements that show that. Oriath is like some kind of Steampunk Renaissance Rome. Either way, meh. GGG is likely going to ignore it. They are good at keeping everyone pissed off with their pet causes (like the labyrinth circlejerk that refuses to die). Add a Forsaken Masters questline

Okay, some of you get too offended about things. Also the Nazi reference is what your mind comes up with, which says more about your thought process than about the imagery.
You need to remember that red, white, & black were in existence before the Third Reich. Also, banners have been around for all of recorded history. So the parallels being drawn are coming from your own mind. |

great... the drama-queens are here as well now to ruin things

Yeah...ruined half of my expectations for act5. The background of this site also makes me feel the games strange. WTF, GGG, its stupid and boring and not in place to add nazis-like things in this game.
Slow down for a minute to enjoy the beauty around us.

" It's not like GGG have been ignoring the lab complaints. They've been constantly updating and improving the lab since its release. It's far superior in its current iteration than when it was released. GGG can't make everyone happy, but it's obvious that they often at least try to make most people happy. |

" It didn't come from India, as most false reports state. It's a perversion of the pagan religious Suncross that was in Europe predating any European going to the far east and seeing it plastered on the forehead of a Buddha. That symbol has been around for a far longer time than most of you know. This is a Viking Suncross, see the similarity? Last edited by Biytor#1022 on Aug 31, 2017, 12:44:37 PM

Offensive? No.
Lazy? Absolutely yes. "We're pilgrims in an unholy land."
