Nazibanners in 3.0! Why?

good point de99ial, symbols has always have different meaning to different people thru out time, what I am curious is to why it bugs the crap to the OP of this thread. I don't know if this is his/her first time playing a computer game, but I am sure many people have played other games with actual Nazi propaganda in it and yet continue to play, its only a game.

It is good for your mental health to be offended from time to time. Some people though, should be offended much more often to stop treating themselves and everything else so goddamn seriously.

I think there is no right purpose of doing this in a video game like POE. There is no historical background or nothing ethical behind it. They just took a symbol an rearrange it to fit the game.

Nazis made holocaust: exterminate 6 millions jews, homosexuals, mentally disabled people, gypsy and whoever doesn't fit hitler racials theories. This is a different context from templars.

Also it happened since less than a century. If you are around thirty and living in europe like me your grandparents certainly have been impacted by nazism.

Personnaly I'm not that much outraged by this banner but GGG should think way more before doing things like this.

At least we can discuss interesting stuff around the game. :-)

First of all symbol used in PoE is not even similar to nazi symbolism. Second of all read this:

Why only Act 5? Why not banners Solaris has in Act 8? The symbol is different and that makes it "ok"? Just because nazis used one of the most ancient world wide symbol in their "project" that occurs from Aryan Slavs and it is among many a symbol of Sun? Solaris has also symbol of Sun it is closer to nazi symbolism - why You ignored that?

Culturally, most people will remind nazi banner seeing this because second world war has the deepest impact on people. It doesn't matter how many variation of Svastika you can find in history (And in fact there is no Svastika in POE why are you the only one talking about the logo???). And yeah most know it was inspired by indian Svastika... Quite obvious.

We are not silencing anything just asking ourselves if such design got purpose here. And I don't get what you are trying to justify here ? It couln't have be done by chance in any way and to me it doesn't feel like a good idea. Nothing more.

You guys don't seem to get it: it's not about the symbol!

- The banner is the exact same banner the Nazis used.
- The color is the exact color the Nazis used.
- The theme of the level is based on the look and feel of 1940 Germany.

Everything about this screams "Nazi", but they changed the symbol so they are allowed to sell it.

no, it's not. it's uniforms and colors and subtle nazi hints in the flag.

it's just a design fail that's supposed to make german players feel bad and it's working if that was the real intention.
