Donald Trump and US politics

" Oh, so now you say whites actually carry the hate crimes out rather than just hoax. And you think that gives you a point? REALLY? I can't take this level of stupid. Casually casual. Last edited by TheAnuhart#4741 on Mar 23, 2017, 4:41:24 PM

" Although I would agree the previous batch of posts on this subtopic are disjointed, I think I can ferret out the point Wraeclastian was trying to make. There have been numerous recent hoaxes blamed on white supremacists/trump supporters/nationalists that have turned out to be perpetrated by members of the group that was supposedly victimized. This doesn't in any way diminish the real hate crimes that go on everyday. What it does diminish is the supposed moral superiority of anti-Trump political camp. It would be like GGG vandalizing their own office and spray painting "Off Topic Thugs RULZ PoE- GGG get out!" Historically speaking, it is far more common for the dominant group to commit hate crimes against the minority group. The violence against Trump supporters is just more of the same. Deny it ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL you want. Just come visit some US cities and wear your "I'm with Her" T-shirt with Hillary stickers on your rented car half the day and wear your Make America Great hat and drive around with Trump/Pence stickers for the other half the day. Then report back on your experiences. Start in Berkely. Portland and then hit Texas. If you survive the first two cities, you'll probably become a Trump supporter before you even reach Texas. DL, I'm totally aware that in almost every case of this type there will be propaganda. It happens. It's, I'd say undoubtedly, in all cases, a minority of the main.
I don't want to get into 'lefties assault righties more than righties assault lefties' or vice versa. Because I simply don't know. But I won't deny both happen. And I won't make silly assumptions pointing out cases that fit my narrative while ignoring those that don't. Some people kill people, some people are bigoted, some people are racist, some people and groups use propaganda. It isn't limited to a certain colour, race, religion or party affiliation. " The real sad part is, this is by design. Government bought by oligarchs/corporations, two party system keeping polarising views among the people. So the population are two busy making sure one of the two popular parties get in, which are both bought by the same oligarchs. Do they want to fix the healthcare system? Of course not. " While the violence is detestable, it can be kept to a minimum so long as the police enforce the laws and are not held back by higher ups in the political food chain.
Spoiler
The same is true for police brutality - which can be minimized if the upper echelons of police and city officials are actively working to stay on top of it
The sports violence was getting way out of hand a few years (3-5?) ago. Working with the professional sports leagues, cities began conducting "sting" operations in which they would send police officers dressed in rival team's sports jerseys to games. Initially, there were quite a few assaults (which didn't get far thanks to plain clothed officers nearby). After a a short time (year to two years, iirc) the number of such incidents drastically declined. The police could do the same at the various protests and marches. Arrest and jail the thugs and then let the rest peaceably express their opinions. ............. " I think today's standstill and delay of the health care vote is a good sign. That it wasn't just forced through shows Congress is sort of doing their job and not just acting as a rubber stamp. The balance of powers is important to getting reasonable outcomes, no matter how impetuous and determined one branch is. Although it isn't a good sign for Trump, as it clearly delineates that his persuasion has limits, it is a good lesson for him in terms of learning to compromise if he wants to actually improve things. I am hoping he also realizes that more work needs to be done upfront before rolling plans out. The over ambition of a fresh president isn't really anything new. The job has a learning curve. If he learns, we will be ok.
