Interesting to see this thread full of the posters whose constant drivel has pushed people over to reddit. You people apparently don't realise the harm you do the community, you have literally pushed people away from the official forums because they are sick of reading your banal spam & yet you seem absolutely oblivious to fact.

People have left this place because of you.

you nailed it.

ino, berma1nwhatever, boem, shag, nait24k, goetzjam ... CHARAN made ppl leave.

cant wait for the voting system. most postings will never see any daylight, muahaha.

oh boy, can barely wait for the forums to turn into an upboat circlejerk, that will surely improve everything.

I migrated to Wraeclast from Marvel Heroes, whose forum has a reaction system consisting of "agree," "disagree," "insightful," "awesome," and "LOL." You can give a particular post ONE reaction, and hovering over a post's reactions will show who gave that reaction.

It actually works fairly well. Funny posts accumulate LOLs, thoughtful ones get insightfuls, etc.

They have a "Best of" feature where you can see a list of posts with the greatest number of reactions for the day as well.

For naming and shaming... Again, have a screenshot button in the game that sends the screenie straight to the GGG server, where you can access it via your account and post to the forums with a "verified" tag. Verified screenshots documenting shameful behavior would be allowed since they're guaranteed not to be tampered with.
I'm reading posts in this thread from people that are labeling the 'redditers' as a group, thereby missing the entire point of why that thread was made over at Reddit. Complaints in here that people 'over there' are trolls and act completely on emotion.

No one sees the irony?

It isn't about envy or not having a thick enough skin. I dislike the format of Reddit and would prefer to focus more on the official forums, but the discussions at Reddit are usually better. I also don't get moderated for having an opinion at Reddit.

If you are simply going to take an 'us vs them' mentality regarding that thread at Reddit, then I argue that you are part of the problem.

I'm not a fan of the upvote / downvote system but, as others have stated, perhaps that would allow us to downvote the negative and junk posts that GGG turns a blind eye to.

OK, I get the reason for most of the complaints, but nait... wtf why?! He mostly fools around and writes funny and silly stuff, is a friendly and relaxed type of guy - what the fuck is your problem with him? Or if someone simply posts often, that's automatic grounds for inclusion in the persona non grata list?

This is a goddamn forum, it was meant for people to talk about stuff, it has subsections and different threads so there is a lot of stuff to talk about, some people like to talk a lot - and now you're blaming them for the decreased forum activity? This is preposterous, I'm not a fan of everyone on the list, but without these guys the forum would be almost nonexistent right now.

Something else: they've always been prolific posters, the decline in forum activity coincided with the new moderation policy which a lot of people, myself included, considered to be unfair and too restrictive. Is it that people are riding the wave of the official forum's decline to point fingers at posters they dislike for some reason? How can a large group of people be so collectively malicious?! At that point, I wouldn't be surprised to learn the same guys are to blame for global warming and possibly AIDS.

Honest inquiry, followed up with a suggestion and a discussion about it.

Yes banal spam and pointless drivel.

The notion of people moving away from a forum because the discussions are dominated by a few people seems counter productive to solving just that issue does it not?

No, it is the consequence of yours and others' actions, you have driven people away, they would rather go to reddit than be subjected to your postings. It's not like people can mute you or not read your posts, they are in every thread, multiple times [Removed by Support]. It is you that needs to re-evaluate things, it is you that needs to sit back and realise that your actions have lead to people looking elsewhere for POE info and community.

Wow, I must be a genius then. Didn't realize not reading was such a precious skill.
You have to be realistic about these things.

Well, it isn't perfect, but I am definitely a fan of the upvote/downvote system. It keeps relevant content in front of users and helps to sift through the trolls. I don't believe there is any conspiracy to abuse the system, and if your comment is getting downvoted to crap (an experience I've had more than once) - you might want to consider why. If this happens to you constantly even more self reflection may be necessary, and you might just consider not posting anymore.

I don't share the same opinion as some other people. I enjoy banter and don't care if people turn some threads into fun banter, etc.

I take issue with inequality and hostility. If a new player signs up, starts a thread, and then calls someone 'stupid', he will be warned on first offense. If he continues, he may be given probation. On the flipside, there are others who can stomp all over others, saying horribly cruel things, and it takes about 100 of those posts before the moderators finally take action.

When that new player sees that, how long is he going to stick around?
Shaihai, today I read the reddit thread. I almost never read Reddit, as I said, I can't deal with the way the site is arranged. Anyway, I saw everything posted by Charan being downvoted - regardless of what he said. I'm willing to bet my balls the same comments wouldn't have been downvoted if written by an anonymous account. He himself said the same: when he posts with an unknown account, he doesn't get downvoted.

This is not a fair or objective system. This is a system which gives a good idea of popular opinions - and that's all there is to it.

If you think popularity itself is the best measure for quality, check the top 20 most popular Youtube videos. Or think of the most financially successful movies. To quote Chekhov (I don't know if there's an accepted translation), There are a thousand idiots for every intelligent person and their voices smother his.

@Drumheller: Yes, everyone hates Charan, got that. My personal opinion is that reaction is way overblown and I wrote a wall of text earlier explaining why. Anyway, let's assume he's horrible and the mods cover for him.

I will repeat myself: is it really so difficult to ignore the posts of someone you find unpleasant? I really don't get it. Why let this unpleasant person drive you away from the forum? Isn't that a concession of their victory over you?
You have to be realistic about these things.
