[Reddit discusses forums] Chris has now posted
With only supporters getting upvotes, you'll have people on the outside claiming that GGG's forums are simply a hang out for white knights and should be disregarded as "public forums". You already have that now, but at least there's an impression that GGG tolerates opposing views. Your upvote system will cost them that rep.

The reason I don't really post here is the fact that every thread is the same. there are 5-10 people who will take over and impose their views. Maybe you are correct maybe you are not, it doesn't mather. It's the fact that you are always there. For how long can you listen to the same 5 people talking? It gets annoying. (Same as this thread).
Also, another thing i don't like about the forum is that there's no way to quantify the quality of the posts. All you give to this forum is quantity. You guys with 20, 50 or 100 posts a day are getting recognition and a boost of ego from yourselves. NOT a reddit user. GG GGG Last edited by Iboga#4297 on Oct 21, 2015, 9:30:58 AM

I agree, but i pose a counter-assumption.
Why do you think only GGG positive material will be upvoted by "premium forum accounts" (keep in mind, these accounts also don't require a visible tag or anything, to not make it an "in your face" perk against users that don't have this) A relevant discussion can have extremely solid post's concerning issue's not addressed by GGG for a very long time. And these could be upvoted as-well as being relevant, no? I understand your stance though, but like you say, this already happens without the benefit of creating a better forum experience overall or having benefits attached to that perceived notion. Peace, -Boem- edit : @iboga, no offense but your stance seems to boil down to "i don't participate in the forums actively because i don't participate in the forums actively" As in, if nobody but those 5-10 people like you mention engage in a conversation, things are not going to change and thus a self-induced cycle is forced. The only way to move away from having the same 5-10 people contribute to a discussion would be to have more active participants. Maybe it wouldn't. But the perception would be there that it would. This world is ruled by perception... not by truth.

" They/we (I don't know if I'm included) don't impose, they just talk a lot. They aren't stopping you from voicing your own opinion. The place to impose opinions is Reddit or any other upvote/downvote site - there the majority imposes its views. I sincerely don't get this: people are actually complaining that someone posts a lot. What the fuck is the problem with that? Is someone forcing you to read or reply to their posts? Yes, it might get annoying to skim through multiple pages of a discussion, but that's one of the downsides of a forum like this. Reddit-type systems have their own plusses and minuses. You have to be realistic about these things. Logen Ninefingers Last edited by Bars#2689 on Oct 21, 2015, 9:50:18 AM

One thing I really dont appreciate about reddit is that on some important or serious discussions the "Best" comments are all puns. I can understand why the idea of up voting and down voting is appealing and could be seen as a better system than what we have here. But id also like to urge GGG to consider some of the not so great qualities about reddit and try to nip those in the bud before introducing new forum features here.

Interesting to see this thread full of the posters whose constant drivel has pushed people over to reddit. You people apparently don't realise the harm you do the community, you have literally pushed people away from the official forums because they are sick of reading your banal spam & yet you seem absolutely oblivious to fact.
People have left this place because of you. |

Pretty bold claim. (double meaning fully intended)
Anything solid to back it up? |

" Honest inquiry, followed up with a suggestion and a discussion about it. Yes banal spam and pointless drivel. The notion of people moving away from a forum because the discussions are dominated by a few people seems counter productive to solving just that issue does it not? " Did you even read the reddit post? Shag, you are the 1st or 2nd post in literally EVERY FUCKING THREAD, and yet you are a player that takes over a week to get through Normal difficulty, just what is it that makes you think people need to hear your opinion on EVERY FUCKING THREAD ON THE FORUM? " No, it is the consequence of yours and others' actions, you have driven people away, they would rather go to reddit than be subjected to your postings. It's not like people can mute you or not read your posts, they are in every thread, multiple times [Removed by Support]. It is you that needs to re-evaluate things, it is you that needs to sit back and realise that your actions have lead to people looking elsewhere for POE info and community.
