Too late. Banwave is delayed while they deal with pedos first.

So much lack of taste, my finger itches to hit report.

Party van too op.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

I bought this week's Charlie Hebdo issue, I think their lack of taste is rubbing off on me.

Dammit. Now everyone will know that I am playing video "Tentacle attack 1-3" every evening :)

I am still pretty sure someone from GGG will step up and comment the whole affair. But for now, I am a bit disappointed. I think they have a higher standard than doing this - sneaky, not communicated privacy changes.

I wouldnt worry about GGG on this, what you got there gets the FBI involved. :P

I'm pretty sure we've got some obscure things here on the forum, but they're in text form.

Please don't make me search for them.

Disgust,

If you ask a stupid question, expect stupid answers.
If you post a troll thread, expect troll replies.
Downloading anything requires trust!

why do you think windows asks if u trust this .exe?

they all have access to a lot of stuff like your dns cache.

they are probably looking for specific i.ps associated with the hacks api (no clue about the hacks but most hackers that want to profit don't keep all the juicy code on ur pc, kind of like how most games are becoming online only, if u you want to reverse engineer there hack to make ur own, u would find most of the code is just calling the API they are using making it difficult for the average coder to copy)

as far as GGG i trust them, i would never want to release what they are doing to stop hackers.

It be like the cops telling the drug dealer were coming to pick you up on friday! i doubt the drug dealer would still be in town if he got notice! lol

i trust them, they are looking for injection points where the hackers try to exploit their code , or put in there own. the only reason id see them searching active process's looking for the dll injecting the "hacks" into the code

for all you tin hats, either you are the hackers or u r completely clueless as to how much access any program has once u install it!

if u r worried about privacy you probably should just throw away your computer!

please GGG don't release any information!

You sir, dont know what your talking about lol. The patch downloaded a new Client.exe which has process monitoring capabilities and will most likely flag accounts that are running processes that modifies game memory and also has names like CheatEngine or w/e its called.

This is all over the place now, people have been reverse-engineering the patch and discovered the code. I wish they would have added this in a larger patch to hide it better, but oh well. At least im sure we will see some banned accounts because of this, good riddance.

Another breaking news -_-
Patcher re-downloads Client.exe almost every time any big patch occurs.
How would you know that "OMG spyware" appeared exactly in this "client.exe"?

The reason of this "panic" is that now there are really big number of people using hacks in PoE.
And they are simply frightened about possible ban.
Well, they deserve it.

GGG is using "light version" of monitoring.
I can name you couple of companies, whose "monitoring-ware" stuff is relatively heavy and takes about 100 Mb or RAM. That's what i call "an elephant in the bush"

If there is really spyware in installer/client/whatever produced by GGG i encourage OP and other knowledgable ppl to sent proofs and word of mouth to mmo and arg websites. Go for Massively, mmorpg.com, rpgcodex maybe and other big news websites - they will be more than interested in something like that.
Also websites focused on softare/hardware security will be interested for sure.

My god, almost every game today has the same (if not more complicated) "spyware" in their clients (and you actually agreed for it to be used when you've registered your account).
Only difference is that some people started to dig and found out that GGG has "process viewer" in .exe. Breaking news...

By the way, any of you, who want to cry about "my privacy!" or "i will sue GGG!" are welcome to read license agreement you've signed\agreed with on account creation (specifically, starting from #22 and further)

Next people will be claiming that GGG is installing rootkits onto your PCs and using your computer as a zombie while mining bitcoins.

Well, it is a bit extreme hyperbole, but why not? The trust is gone. There is no single warning that I am aware of during the installation of the game or during its launch phase informing you, that the game is actively monitoring your system and sending the data to GGG.

In my country, such situation is even against the law.

Nothing in the TOS gives them the right to spy on other processes running on my computer. They are in violation of the TOS with this last patch.

As i said, read ToS again. Carefully.
You should stop mindlessly clicking "agree" without reading the license agreement if you want to argue about some things after and not look stupid.

And for the aldorus

you agree that you are entirely responsible for ensuring that your access and use of any of the Website, Materials and Services will not contravene any laws in your country.

If you're not lying about "your country laws" - you should either uninstall PoE immediately or be fully responsible for all your deeds.

P.S. for those people who really think that they are still "anonymous" in the internet\or even IRL - my condolences :D
Yeah, i'm talking about that masterpiece
