No matter how damn stupid the victim is, it's never the victims fault. Never.

Scamming should result in a LONG ban.

But what is scamming? Selling stuff way over priced? No.
Charging a fee for a service, and then run? Yes.

And that is your opinion.

My opinion is that the victim put himself in a position to be scammed (attempting to buy a 'service' that is not actually part of the game or authorized or controlled by GGG). Therefore, he is as much at fault as the scammer.

I would think fitting analogy would be someone going to the police because a drug dealer ripped him off when he was trying to buy illegal drugs. All those services aren't actually a part of the game, it is buyer beware.

And that bolded part is why no one should side with the "victim" here.

First of all: Services in PoE is allowed.

Second: Blaming the victims indirectly says: Scamming people is ok! The scammers doesn't do anything wrong, they just take advantage of stupid people.

Great morale.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

It's spelled moral, sir.

And that's what it is. It's perfectly fine and the people are stupid.
What's the problem with that? What you call morality I call naiveness.
If you ask a stupid question, expect stupid answers.
If you post a troll thread, expect troll replies.

Going in, thinking: "I'm going to scam this idiot for everything he's got"

You see nothing wrong there? At all? Really?

I feel bad for you.

Yes and No.

The problem here is how fucked up the rules of PoE are. For some reason GGG allows to scam people however they do not allow to report scamming. I.e. if someone scams me that's fine. If i tell the community who scammed me, if i posts screenshots or a video of the event happening they will ban me for that.

That's the fucking problem right there.

Conclusion: The rules are stupid.

Please, define wrong. Wrong is completely subjective, there is not a set list of wrong things.

To me, it's wrong that people try to justify their own mistakes instead of fixing them.
To me, it's wrong that cunning and trickery are called evil, for both are expressions of intelligence.
To me, it's wrong that moral is treated as the law of everything.
To me, it's wrong that people try to impose their vision, treating it as an absolute truth.

That's most likely what you think is right, yet no one of us can say it's true nor false.

It just is.
If you ask a stupid question, expect stupid answers.
If you post a troll thread, expect troll replies.
I think the real problem here is that people don't understand that morality in real life isn't the same as morality in a game. They've lost touch that we're playing a game and think that the same moral arguments that apply to RL contracts would apply equally to contracts within a game. They don't. Get over it.

The problem here is people trying to hide bad (in the rest of the world illegal) actions behind stupid people and a ToS.

Taking a kids lunch money is ok; "hey, kids are stupid"
Taking the money of a person with Downs; "hey, they're stupid - it's ok"

The ACTION is the same, no matter how naive the other part is.

Wrong, you try to defend scammers here by claiming that morale changes. That's obvioulsy stupid. The thing that changes isn't the moral, it's punishment for doing something wrong or for something not accepted.

You see this from the wrong side. Change the point of view and look at it this way.

Going in thinking: "im going to trust this stranger, i give him whatever he asks for". And then boohoo on the forum about how someone scammed them. Self victimization is just as bad as screwing someone over.
