Afterthoughts on completing the 8 challenges

read the OP. all of it. more than once actually.
and honestly, constant trading references and words like "wealth" are sticking out like a sore thumb. you know, you just did it the hard way, Fireknight. all that flipping, scamming and farming. why not just RMT those uniques and be done with it? and RMT some orbs (excuse me, "currency") while you're at it, then just buy your way to Atziri kills, Invader kills and whatnot? that's what GGG practically wanted you to do, with those kind of "challenges". it's almost like they are doing that on purpose. "beat Vaal Oversoul at level 1" is a fucking challenge. "have the god-damned Atziri Axe and all other super-RNG-rare broken uniques in your inventory" is a ticket to 24/7 economy simulation at best, and RMT encouragement at worst. seriously, I'd rather just buy the damn shirt. oh wait - most of you 8/8 players probably did. and you got ripped-off too. most expensive piece of clothing you ever purchased. and not from GGG. Also they should rename the challenges. Using google or poewiki to look up a recipe is not a challenge. (or have times changed that much?) Winning the lottery is not a challenge. There is really nothing coming close to a challenge in this list. Arguably "full clear all corrupted zones" comes close to a challenge, but then you realize you can use a lvl 95 character to do it on normal... and we are back where we started. you know Boem, I just wish one of the 8/8 guys would have the balls, to step up and make a thread about how they RMTed it all.

(YOU SUCCEEDED - MUST HAVE CHEATED!!!) was a lot of it trading? Sure fucking was. Luckily that's allowed, and someone's personal views on trading have not very much to do with the equation. You play the game your way, they play their way, and nobody needs to flip out on the other just because they choose to enjoy the game in a different way. I can't explicitly prove that those players didn't buy the necessary stuff (except yknow, 4 of them which got the axe directly from me which I KNOW for a fact came right off the ground from Uber Atziri) but where I come from you're innocent until you're proven guilty. " Exactly. They should give us actual challenges like: Clear catacombs normal with a character below or at lvl 30. Clear Lunaris Temple lvl 3 in merciless with a character below or at lvl 50. These would be challenges. There would have to be different ones obviously but you get the idea. Get the strongboxes. Great, i just rng my way to that challenge. Use these currency items. Awesome, i play the trading game till my head explodes. |

Maybe you shouldn't make stupid ass comments when you have no idea what you're talking about. Back on topic. I agree with pretty much everything you had to say Fireknight. I do think however that this was by far the best challenge league they have had yet. Getting the challenges in the previous leagues basically just required you to farm Piety all day to get rich enough to afford the uniques. Wealth was definitely required for this challenge as well, but it was more of a byproduct from trying to complete the challenges in the first place. You actually had to complete difficult content in order to complete these challenges. While there were some Axes sold this league, most of the players that got 8/8 found it themselves. The few players that did buy an axe were wealthy from farming Uber Atziri already and were just unlucky in getting one to drop. That being said, there was way too much riding on RNG this time. Having to farm Uber Atziri for a month + and still not find an axe is ridiculous. Killing Uber Atziri should have been the challenge. Getting to 95 in both leagues could help compensate to make the challenges more difficult but less reliant on RNG. " If I forgot to mention it in my rambling, I think the uber atziri fight was a lot of fun. The idea behind the atziri system (in principle) is fantastic. If a few adjustments were made to reduce RNG and increase difficulty through other methods, I think the system would have been perfect - but I don't think there's a perfect solution; I think that no matter how it's implemented some portion of the playerbase gets marginalized. " Jake sold 4 and Flubby sold 2 not sure about the rest but I'll assume at least 1 more was sold which is almost half already, if it's more than 1 besides Jake's and Flubby's then it's more than half bought to complete the challenges. Farming über sure as hell didn't get me wealthy, it actually did the opposite, it made me poor. " Agreed, could have made it "clear alluring abyss without deaths" as the challenge (would require new tech to check that the player is present for the whole thing though). " I agree, however it would be the same situation as the first 50 Atziri kills mtx thing. People would just sell it. To some this is fine. To others, it would take away from the challenge itself. But then again, nothing stopped people from selling the 'Atziri and her minions' challenge. Ideally, the 8th challenge of the 8/8 should be solely on merit and not something you can buy. However, GGG has made it abundantly clear this is a trading game. The most committed wins. @ucsarge
