Afterthoughts on completing the 8 challenges

" Sounds easily abusable depending on how "active" is defined and tracked. |

Could make it a solo challenge where only 1 portal is allowed. If you die once or someone else joins then you can't get the challenge.

" One solution that comes to mind is percent damage done of boss life. Gets trickier with party but it's a quick and dirty way of doing it. " If we're assuming something like Atziri then I'd say another way is required due to the value of the fragments. I'm not opposed a deathless solo requirement for the challenge but the check would be better done by deaths and portals remaining than to remove portals. I'm sure GGG could work out ways to make it happen if they wanted to. Ngl, I think the smart solution is just not have the entire challenge ride on one Axe with 1% drop chance -
2 items required each with 2% drop chance would have greatly reduced the variance of the challenge - when some can get the axe on the first kill and others (like myself, 94 kills) is a huge kick in the balls. " I really don't think GGG thought out the economy model that well especially with the competition, the situation with Hopes towards the end was extremely distasteful imho. just to clarify my previous posts here: I'm blaming the game, not the players.
here's a set of questions. tell me how many of you 8/8 challenge holders: 1) didn't RMT? 2) didn't map-hack/zoom-hack? 3) didn't multibox or use various borderline-bannable macros and automations? 4) never scammed the fuck out of anyone in trade. 5) played the actual game more than playing "the economy"? 6) used an interesting (preferably custom) build, rather than the usual ST or RF snap-shotting bullshit (so much for build diversity)? or at least didn't fucking snapshot the damn Passive Tree itself per Atziri run? and just to prove my point, I'd say that if I put in 7) did it self-found? the amount of answers would be . heck, even if we extend the leagues to a whole year, it would still likely be zero. that says something. but not about the players. those of you 8/8 guys who answered "yes" to at least the first 3 (or preferably 4) questions - kudos to you. GG. it says something about the way the game is designed, and the way the challenges design progressively pushed the boundaries of "disgusting" from temp league to temp league, until reaching a peak in this one. " Question 7 is pretty retarded, apart from Onslaught which was POSSIBLY doable self-found if you got Shavs, and even then probably not - some weird items in there, challenges shouldn't be able to be done self-found. Why? Game is balanced around trading and the challenges are meant to be challenging. A self-found challenge that is available in a league that has trading just gets shat on completely by traders. I'm sick and tired of hearing "RMT" "RMT" "RMT" everywhere - the people who actually did Alluring Abyss put in an unbelievable amount of work - myself, around 2 months 10 hours a day just farming Abyss/Normal. If you play smart, that level of currency and wealth is easily obtainable in that time-frame, sorry but the game isn't balanced around players only playing 2 hours a day, 3 times a week killing the hardest boss. Why should it be? I used to raid WoW, I didn't see people complaining that they should just get a full clear HC handed to them even if they were struggling on normal mode. " How can something be borderline-bannable? This isn't horsehoes. Things are either against the rules or not. There is no middle ground. Also, There is nothing in the rules against multiboxing either. You are allowed to run two clients at once and if you have the 2nd one sit in town til you can cull the boss, that is 100% allowed. " With poe.xyz available to give a player fair pricing on items, I don't see how there is scamming. No one forces you to the trade. They can't swap an item half a second before you hit accept. All ideas of "scams" fall on the person being lazy. Didn't look at what you moused over before hitting accept? IT IS YOUR FAULT. Do I agree with people who do such things? No, but you have the tools to 100% prevent it. So yes, I am victim blaming here because there is nothing else GGG can do except disable trading. " Soon as you said "interesting build" you are automatically going by opinion, which varies person to person. There are people who have killed uber atziri without snapshotting the passive tree. Yes, there were limited builds able to do uber atziri compared to say 77 shrine piety, but there were more than one build doing it. Foxtatic did it with arc. Another guy posted a video doing it with a crit puncture bow build, others did ST, and havoc did cyclone/rf. There are plenty of things to complain about with the 8/8 achievements, but shit talking those who completed it is just wrong. They did what they had to in order to complete it. Oh, and your self found comment is just so out of place with this game. I personally would like a SFL, but with GGG's responses to the subject already, just give it a rest. You will NEVER get 8/8 self-found. There will not be a SFL league, and trading WILL be a huge part of this game. ign: Vixien Last edited by vixien#0024 on Jul 7, 2014, 1:44:36 AM

" you just proved my points. especially this one: " and you did too, @Vixien. read your post again, then read mine. " I'm not the right person to ask about this. used to pretty much no-life the game early in Open Beta, but now I play about 6-7 hours a week - mostly on weekends - because RNG repeatedly took dumps on my head, until I decided it's just not worth it. sad being an old, retired RPG fanboy no-lifer who can no longer afford the no-lifing, or the fanboying. but Anuhart is, for one example. over 1.5 years. average of over 9 hours a day the whole time. I only saw about 90% of the content in my ~2000 hours of PoE. he saw all of it in his near-7000. ask him about being able to complete the challenges or farm Uber Atziri, self-found. ask him about how trade is only a "shortcut" to getting things done in the game, rather than a mandatory shitfest everyone is forced to participate in - or suffer the consequences - because that's GGG's idea of design and balance. ask him, about how he'd rather just RMT and trade and multibox the fuck out of the game, if he didn't have balls of steel - because that would save a truck-load of wasted time and frustration. there is no such thing as "playing smart" in the ARPG sense, in this game. most of you guys simply adapted to deliberately-shitty design by using proven overpowered builds, and trading your souls out and whatnot - and some of you took a shortcut to that, with RMT and cheating and multiboxing. I hear one of you got banned for that. again, game's fault. can't blame any of you for signing that contract with the devil, given the circumstances. I sure could, if the game was actually playable and risk-rewarding, in the ARPG sense. that's an "if" that would never, fucking ever happen. I know and had the honour to play with more than a handful of guys, who are just amazing players in this game. one look at them, and you can immediately tell that had this game been skill-based - they'd proudly lead the ladder, or at least get something like top 20. very few of them are even remotely close, to that skull with the figure "8" next to their names. or ever were, in the previous temp leagues. most of them are currently stuck, heading nowhere at full speed. EDIT: @Redblade, GG. well played man. one righteous man found in the city of Sodom. 49 to go. EDIT2: @Sneakypaw, "hillourias" isn't a word. if you see a red line under what you wrote, right click and fix it. if you are a German speaker, just run "urkomisch" through Google Translate, and paste the result. " 1: Nope, no RMT. 2: Nope, no hacks. 3: Nope, unless /remaining and /itemlevel is "borderline". 4: Nope, I value my accounts reputation more than some currency. 5: Only times I had trade chat open was to buy/sell currency and fragments. 6: Started as Incinerate but had to go cookie cutter for über. Never used regrets to snapshot. 7: As it was impossible the answer is obvious.
