The next thing that needs to be redesigned for the sake of balance
"Math nitpick note: The armour formula actually does not have diminishing returns on EHP, but linear EHP progression. Therefore, if someone is advocating making resistances "like armour" (such as a a/(a+b) type of formula), then that's actually not diminishing returns, but linear returns. Capped mitigations such as the current resists or block chance, on the other hand, are escalating returns systems. In particular, it seems players expect some form of exponential growth, even if the exponent is rather small. " Except going over the cap isn't nearly that trivial. Going over the cap has opportunity cost. Only three uniques directly raise your resist cap and they come with hefty drawbacks. Purity auras obviously compete with other auras and requires further itemization and speccing. Flasks obviously take up slot. I'm fine with how resist affixes gives value to gear in the economy. I'm fine with 75 to 77 resists just being a mandatory gearing zone. Last edited by DeviantLightning#7374 on Jun 20, 2014, 6:29:30 AM

"BUHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, I can not afford the gear i want. >Better nerf the whole game to fit my wallet then!"
- Go play world of Casualcraft if the grind is a problem for you. Atleast there you will be given free gear for little to no effort! - There is no problem what so ever with resistances as it is now. Move along, nothing to see here. zzZzzzZzzZz

"It's not quite that black-and-white. When you're dealing with the possibility of 85% or higher resistance versus 75%, then yes, it's impossible to scale things correctly for both. However, 60% resist versus 70% is within the realm of reasonable scaling, and something along the lines of 60% resist versus 85% is still reasonable when it is dependent on flask use. (75% vs 95% is unreasonable even when it's dependent on flask use.) In other words, we don't need a zero-tolerance policy. At this point, it's unrealistic to ask for one anyway, as too many items and skills grant them. It's best to just work with what we have in a way which reduces the scaling from 2x to 5x, to something more like 1.3x to 3x. Being 1 shotted by ele damage with max resistances is rubbish balance.

"Depends what by. Vaal Slam (part fire) or Touch of God (part lightning)? Telegraphed as hell, so I'm totally fine with people with max resists getting "one-shot" by it. I use "one-shot" in quotes because I'm imagining more of a 80-90% of max life hit which kills the marginally damage character. I'm a little less comfortable with drains for absolutely full life. Some other things, not so much. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. I've never been able to survive touch of god. I have no idea how to avoid it.

" Depends on the reliability of your prediction model. It moves away from good design if that prediction model fails since it instills bad-player-experiences. The intention is solid, the execution not so much. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
