I'm Unhappy I Put As Much Money As I Did In This Game

I didn't.
Thought about it though but figured you already had enough on your plate and surely not enough time to check them all.

Anyway thx for the response!
A return of the development manifesto would be great. You guys could also create a new section on the Forum labelled "Work in Progress" where you could make a listing of the major issues you're working on like:

- Sync code
- Trade system
- RNG's Algorithm
- Maps pool sustainability
- FPS issues
- etc...

(pretty much like every gem has its own thread)
Of course it would need to be updated on regular basis.

Cheers.

yep totally agree with the op, from 80-91 I did not "find" any items to replace some of my not so good gear. also spending 2k worth of chrome trying to get 4 off colours on boots, seeing it appear once (not the colours I needed) is a kick to the face. at the end of the day if you don't run a bot all you have is:

a few chrome
some alts
maybe 1 to 2 fuse
port and id scrolls

from spending 20 Min doing maps. doing some pitiful maths let's say a map gives 20 chrome per run, to get 4 off colours on boots you will need to do around 33hrs worth of farming, on the UN realistic assumption that a run yields 20 chrome. At the end of the day the only winners are the ones not "playing" the game, if you get what I mean.

I think there's time for both :)

Yo Baloosh, better decide one way or the other if Chris and co are catering to those who pay the bills, your post is incoherent!

As for feedback:
You've toyed in the past with the idea of having a vendor recipe for a guaranteed 6 link Chris (think your number was 1500?). I say, it's about time to go for it, and possibly corresponding recipes for 4 link and 5 link items.

There are currently 3 rng layers a player needs to go through to get an excellent item: find (or craft, which is another rng sink with its own issues, or trade) a good item, link it, corrupt it.
Finding the item is obviously fun for the player, trading for the item functions as a vendor recipe of sorts, crafting it (not talking chaos orbs, proper craft) is reserved for BiS items.

Corrupting it is a one off OPTIONAL adrenaline rush, I think it's fine.

Linking the damn thing is a chore with no alternative. It is not optional and it is not fun in the way an unexpected great drop happens, or fun in the way trading happens (the feeling of finally getting enough currency for the item of your dreams!). When I do finally succeed, I get a feeling of relief, not elation. Players have simulated a recipe for a while with all those (scammy) lotteries. It's about time!

I just think somewhere along the way GGG started to neglect the people paying the bills in favour of the people with the loudest mouths and most time to play.

That's all.

We base our development decisions on what we feel would be best for the game, and occasionally on data of player behaviour. While more vocal users certainly draw our attention to important bugs and situations that need reviewing, most of our development effort goes on working towards our plan to improve the game in the way that we've designed it. This has allowed us to create this game and it's the best way we've found to continue to update it.

It's not our goal for the game to feel unrewarding to play! Much feedback in this thread is that this needs attention, and it will get it over time. We just have to be really careful with how we address it. Knee-jerk reactions of arbitrarily raising drop rates will hurt the game more than help it.

There's a lot in the works that will improve specific issues that are raised in this thread. I'll try to be more transparent about this in the future. Would a return of the development manifesto help?

With regards to the "most time to play" comment - Charan and I have talked about this personally and I wanted to mention it in this thread. We want to make sure there are content and items for people who play far more than the average player. Enemies like Atziri (and potentially other undocumented harder versions of her) require a whole lot of effort that will probably be out of for a portion of our playerbase. Those players can still find the content both enjoyable to watch on Twitch/YouTube and aspirational (inspiring them to build better and better characters to hopefully take it on themselves). We tried to make sure that there was lots of content in SotV that was available to all players, and based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the patch, I personally feel we succeeded.

Truly, it's an honor Chris, I appreciate you taking the time to post in this thread. While I do agree that it is rather awesome to witness the new content, it isn't awesome to not participate in it. I do agree, and am glad to see you made this content for more people to enjoy, being it content that revolves around before you start the end game and mostly more fun and mechanical base design of bosses. There's bosses being ironed out with the upcoming patch, which I'm sure a lot of people are looking forward to, I just hope you find a good middle-ground for rewards, as it's severely lacking currently. Thank you for posting your email, I will try to email you in the future, but nothing too long to be horrible to read though, but long enough to get ideas across. Again, thank you Chris, it means a lot for you to post in this thread. (3 times even!)

I'd like both, if it's possible.

Thx a lot for letting us know that you are indeed aware of this thread and some of the issues that have been brought up. The majority of us want GGG and PoE to succeed (beyond all of our collective "wildest dreams") and be a part of it.

Hopefully some of the things that are causing some players to lose interest are addressed and bring them back into the fold (to a certain extent I include myself :( )

Thx again Chris /bow

I guess emailing is a bit more personal. That one always struck me as "email to this address if the message is explicitly for Chris or in case of major exploits".

I'd class important feedback as very important :)

Hooooooo... boy. I hope you've got your troll filter up! :D

So tempted to email you now and just link to Moos's post from OB, specifically about mana.

Mana is in a bad place

Auras have changed, which were a side effect issue of mana

AA and MoM have been added, which made stacking mana more 'valuable', but didn't fix mana in any way, probably made it worse

And now leech has changed, making leech gem, one of the methods Moos discusses worse.

Mana is in a bad place, and has been for a long time

Everyone knew mana has been garbage for awhile. Me, you, Hilbert, and any long time players know that mana has been hot garbage for centuries. It was only through recent mana leech buffs that mana became sorta usable, then mana got nerfed again so, back to everyone using EB/Blood Magic days (which is exactly what is happening right now).
